What are the thoughts on DJ Reader?

He wasn’t bad but he didn’t make the  impact everyone was expecting.   The injuries around him and his own had something to do with it.  I assume he will be back as his contract isn’t bad but they can get out of it for almost nothing.

The win percentage is just a small portion of what he's been able to do.  Taking a franchise that had the history of ineptitude and change the culture in such a short period is his biggest highlight.   This was not a franchise that was at about its lowest it could be.  The only asset was an older star QB which he did use in a brilliant way even if they didn't think Goff was going to be this good.  He is the biggest factor in taking a team that was a laughing stock to one of the top franchises and for years to come.

Designated Post June Cut as it’s a lot of cap savings.  He didn’t play enough snaps per game or effective enough in the ones he did play to warrant the huge salary necessary. That money could be spent on 2 DTs or resign Levi.

Goff didn't get blamed when Pleasant didn't work out.

Pleasant was a defensive coach. Goff needed to prove he could do without McVay and now he needs to prove he can do it without Johnson. If he can't do it with Morton, it means he can't do it without McVay or Johnson and we need to trade him and two 1sts for Herbert.

I love David Shaw as a person.

But when you get the nickname David "Up The Middle" Shaw amongst the students at Stanford (who largely know nothing about football), I can't help but laugh when you get hired as a Passing Game Coordinator.

I hope Dan Campbell knows more than I do. He usually does.

This could be a Morton request.  It also doesn't hurt that he is another minority hire.

Its definitely going to be interesting to see if this team changes a lot on their play calling and trick plays.  It will show how much is the talent you have on the field and head coach to the coordinator.

He also helped develop luck and had mccaffrey. Lets just not use broad brush strokes that he was just power i up the middle for three every play

Yes, but his fall from grace was significant. Stanford hasn't recorded more wins in a season than their prior season since 2014 to 2015. There's more to that than Shaw, but 99.9% of Stanford fans believed his firing was two years overdue.

12 to 10 to 9 to 9 to 4 to 4 to 3 to 3 (Shaw fired here) to 3 to 3.
