Is Reed an upgrade over Davis?

Probably. Not a significant upgrade, but not a downgrade. The Jets play sides, so Sauce didn't always take the other team's best receiver. Often times, teams would line up their best on Reed's side, and he still held his own.

Could be a McNeil fill in.

maybe on a cheap deal, i'd be worried about the miles on him.

i think the lions will get at least one dt and use some draft capital to get another.  good draft for dline.

Really like the Reed signing, Lions still need a pass rusher and an interior D-lineman. Hutch and that band aid on the other side isn't gonna cut it and you don't want to shoehorn yourself into drafting for need so Brad needs to do something here.

How is Reed against bigger receivers though? He's 5' 9".

I'd like at least one good cover-CB that has size. I think I'd like Reed more in the slot as well, if he can cover the quicker guys/ slots...

Charvarius Ward is probably going to be even more expensive than Davis though... Oh... and he just signed with the Colts for 3 and $60 mill.

I'm seeing all these ridiculous contracts thrown around and wondering how the Lions signed the top corner for a reasonable price.

That "reasonable price" is still a boatload of money. To play for a very good coach, on a good team and a chance for a Super Bowl. Take an extra 2 million to play on a losing team? No thanks. .

Apparently the top two Corners for PI calls were Terrion Arnold and the guy we just signed DJ Reed. So we're now putting out two starting corners that led the league in PI calls. I do worry at least a little bit if being overly handsy and/or not turning to play the ball as Arnold was caught doing catches up with us at all?

If I looked correctly only 3 penalties is the second half of the season. He made big strides at being less grabby. I think he’s going to develop into a very good CB2 this year and potentially CB1 for next year.

Robertson goes back to slot and backup outside corner. Rakestraw is a backup at both roles with the plan to take over as primary slot in 26.

The style of play demanded by the Lions defense (and thus the corners they covet) is naturally going to demand more sticky coverage, which is naturally going to bring more penalties for DPI and Defensive Holding. It doesn’t really concern me.

And no, y’all can’t quote me on this the first time I’m pissed at one of them for getting called for DPI.
