Goff will be on Quarterback.

I am looking forward to seeing a lot of footage of Mrs. Goff

BTW just read that the Lions made a proposal to change playoff seeding to overall record. I've always been in favor of that but the Chargers proposed it a few years ago and it didn't get much support so I'd imagine things aren't going to be any different this time.

The biggest change they need to make is getting rid of the division winners getting an automatic big. A 7 or 8 win team from a **** division like the NFC South shouldn't be making it into the playoffs or a team with more wins, in another division. It's BS how bad the NFC South has been in recent years past and still gets a team in.

The two rule changes i would love to see are;

Delay of game procedure. Make it more like the NBA, a strict clock-hitting-zero rule.

Tush push rule. I'm not sure how to change it but pushing players from behind should be stopped before someone gets seriously hurt.

I don't agree. Winning a division should get a team a playoff spot. Should it be a home game? No, I could see that change. Re-seed all teams before the playoffs, the teams with the better records should all have a home playoff game.

What's the point of divisions then if winning it gets you nothing, not even a road playoff game?

The unbalanced schedule makes the entire NFL playoff system "unfair" really.

Division winners making the playoffs but all seeds determined by record makes the most sense.

I disagree personally. The (relatively speaking) short season and limited opponents face makes division winners important. The goal is to win the division. The wild card slots are just extra slots for teams that are really good, but not good enough to win their divisions.

Yes, you'll absolutely have situations where a really good team like the Vikings has to go on the road vs. a team with a worse record, but those are rare. And it's even more rare when there's such a clear case that you could argue that the team with that record also faced some of the stiffest competition (in division).

Why should a team in a **** division, with a bad record get to make the playoffs over a team in a tougher division, with a better record? In 2022 Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a losing record, 8-9, while playing in the worst division in the league in the NFC South. Meanwhile, the Lions went 9-8 that year and played in one of the tougher divisions in the league. What is the justification for a team with a losing record, in a weaker division, with a weaker schedule, making it in over a team with a winning record?

The point is that bad teams, in weak divisions, shouldn't get rewarded with a playoff birth. A team with a losing record, winning a bad division, shouldn't get a playoff spot over a team with a winning record in a tougher division. The best 7 teams in each conference, regardless of division, should be the 7 teams that make the playoffs.

Yes, that's true. But it shouldn't matter that they didn't because when the regular season ended they had more wins than Tampa Bay. I'm just not for automatically putting teams with losing records into the playoffs, but this current system rewards it. If there happens to be a season where 1 of the 7 best teams in a conference has a losing record than so be it. But winning your division with a losing record shouldn't guarantee you a playoff spot.

Yes and yes.

Should be easy to eliminate the tush push. Treat it the same as an illegal forward pass. Play negated, five yard penalty. And define an illegal run play as one in which one or more players line up behind a player who receives the snap and attempt to propel the ball carrier forward.

Here's the official proposed by the Packers

It's official, the Green Bay Packers are going after the "Tush Push." The proposal is stated this way:

"To prohibit an offensive player from pushing a teammate who was lined up directly behind the snapper and receives the snap, immediately at the snap."

The Lions are proposing a change in playoff seeding..

Quote

"To amend the current playoff seeding format to allow wild-card teams to be seeded higher than division champions if the wild-card team has a better regular-season record."

The tush push is like finding a glitch in a video game and just exploiting it constantly. I'm not even sure it's legal as it is. When Kelce was doing it, he would move the ball forward which is a false start. It was rarely called.

Playoffs are for division winners. Win your division and you're in the playoffs. Wild card berths are just consolation prizes for the teams that weren't quite good enough to win their division but still had a pretty decent year.

If you want to just take the best 7 teams, then get rid of divisions as divisional standing are meaningless and playing your divisional team mates twice can end up being a good or bad thing depending on the rest of the division. I mean who knows if Chicago might not have had a better record if they didn't have to face Detroit, GB, and Minny twice.

And all of those KC false starts that were obvious. I <think> it was their right guard constantly jumping the snap count. Rarely ever called. And, I'll repeat, why isn't anyone calling for a better play clock violation rule? That, IMO, is the #1 needed rule change
