I am happy for Aaron Glenn.   The Jets decided to not hamstring him out of the gate for Aaron Fraudgers

Rumors about him going to the Steelers, Giants and Titans.      If he goes to any of those teams, those coaches won't survive, even Tomlin.

As far as the Jets.   Well, I could see Kirk Cousins on a one-year deal.   I could see Justin Fields getting a shot.

I, for one, would love to see Tomlin continue his progression from the WR whisperer to the QB... uh... quiet talker. I thought he handled the Fields/Wilson situations about as well as possible. They both have serious holes in their games, but Tomlin still guided the team to another playoff berth with that two-headed monster, without letting the thing turn into a sideshow.

Even though people don't like Rodgers (I guess because he experiments with ayahuasca rather than vaccines) he is still head and shoulders above what Pittsburgh was running out there last year. And I think he would fit right in with Tomlin. The problem in NY is there was no leadership, so he took the reins. That won't be the problem in Pittsburgh.

He hasn't signed with the Steelers, but the power struggle starts the second he skips Mandatories.    He doesn't NEED them, but its about being a team player and getting to know new teammates.     Yeah, Tomlin has a better chance of weathering that, but the Giants and Titans?   Those team brings him in - those coaches are finished.

So I've thought about this since the news came out that Myles Garrett wants to be traded. I would love to get Garrett and have a dynamic pass rusher like him to go along with Hutch. That's obvious I think to every can. Just as much as they though, I would love to prevent another NFC team from getting him. I do strongly think he's going to end up on an NFC team next year. I don't want it to Chicago, Washington or Philly and a team we have to face come playoff time. That's a primary concern I have.

But in the event one of those teams or another NFC team gets him I want us to approach this offseason with a newly minted aggressive mindset. I want us to go get Trey Hendrickson from Cincinnati. I actually want Hendrickson probably as much as I want Garrett. I wanted Hendrickson all last year and still want him now. Cincinnati is in cap trouble and is looking for ways to restructure deals and save money to keep Tee Higgins around. The most obvious way to keep Higgins around is for Joe Burrow to do what he's already said publicly he wants to do, that's restructure his contact. The other way the Bengals could save money though is to trade away Hendrickson and his contract and get draft capital back in return. I'd love to see us make a splash and get Hendrickson if we're not successful with getting Garrett.

I'd be alright with signing Fuller at the right price. Outside of last season, on a slumping Dolphins team, Fuller was a better player than Davis for most of his career. He graded out higher than Davis with PFF and played better in man coverage for his career. If the Lions think they can get him to bounce back to form and get him at a fair contract, I'd be alright with looking at him in free agency.

I have other priorities I'd rather they target first, namely pass rusher and offensive line to solidify the interior of the line. But it's clear we still need help at CB and depth in the secondary overall. Davis has never played a full season in his career and never played more than 15 games in a season. Fuller has played 15 or more games 5 times and played two full seasons. I get that Fuller got injured too, but through his career, he's showed more health and reliability than Davis. In an ideal world we'd be able to keep Davis, add Fuller as a cherry on top, and still have money to get a significant pass rusher. If the Lions look at Fuller and think he's not the type of player they want or that he's done in the NFL I'm fine with and trust their evaluation too.

Interesting theory in this thread.   New way of calculating TV ratings will spike the NFL numbers and balloon the future salary cap.

I heard on the radio the cap number teams were informed of today is like 30 million higher than expected. Good thing Brad signed so many guys this past season, I'm sure contracts are going to go way up starting this year.

I would rather sign Carlton Davis for 3-4 years... but I don't know what his offers will be like this offseason...

2nd choice is not Slay. Not even close... But I'm tired of giving Mosely chances and contracts to stay healthy so if Slay is a backup CB signing (meaning, he might still win a starter's position, but it's not guaranteed... although injuries as we've seen create opportunities...) As long as he's willing to sign a 1-year contract on that basis I'd be good with that.

Better options than Slay:

Davis, Charvarius Ward, Paul Adebo.

Probably D.J. Reed & Byron Murphy too but I would like at least one CB with good size and physicality and... I think those two are even more likely to price themselves above what the Lions are willing to spend than Davis will...

Ward will also most likely be too expensive... but I like his similar size to Davis. So I'll keep it at Davis-Adebo-Ward for now. Adebo might be the best under-the-radar CB signing this offseason so if Ward & Davis end up too expensive... I'd be fine with Holmes going after an Adebo signing. Those are my 3 starting CB targets I am looking at this offseason... just get us one of those Holmes and I'll be happy... Oh, and also draft one more CB project that we can work into the lineup over the next 3-4 years... And if you wanna sign Slay for depth that's OK too!

Please.

**** The Bears!

**** Cancer!

What a gut punch it was reading that.  You can tell how worn down he feels, he was always such a fun and bright voice during the lean years for the Lions.  I wish he could have seen them lift the Lombardi.

Bengals cut DT Sheldon Rankins.  There's a low cost vet to add interior depth...

He's got the injury history Brad likes too. Only played in 7 games last season for the Bengals.

To me the D tackles are the biggest need for the team given McNeil's injury. I felt the loss of him on top of Reader really falling off at the end was what really killed the defense down the stretch. On top of not getting pressure from the interior teams were just carving us up on 1st down runs.
