3rd and 1, why are you not handing the ball off. Why would even consider going empty set.  Ben is over thinking some of these situations.   I mean come on.  Hand the damn ball off and get the first down.  That simply can’t happen.

Yep, what are the chances the Commanders’ run defense would have stopped them on 3rd AND 4th down.

Not thrilled with splitting out Montgomery on 3rd and 1.

Remember they are still on script cause they haven't played a ton of snaps so far.  Also I believe the decision was already made to go for it on 4th down so i believe they were going for a chunk play.

Hate to say it, but Monty coming back is harming the offense.  When he has been out there it has not gone well.  Just not the time to force him in.  It’s 3rd and 1, that has to be a handoff.

It was a bad decision.  You’re in scoring position. You don’t need a chuck play.

um the script goes out after the first series almost every game. And it was 3 and 1 from the what 30? chunk plays arent a thing

Yep, my one complaint about JOhnson is that he does that too often for my liking. It ends up working out alot of the time but still feel like it is a needless risk when you have a running game like the Lions have.

Could be but usually scripts are about 10-20 plays depending on the coach, series doesn't matter. Your trying to get a read on the defense verse different shifts and alignments so that you can dictate what you want to do afterward. Not saying that was case but its what it looked like to be based on the weird formation.

There Is some value in going to a chunk play third and short, keeps defenses honest. Relatively harmless in the first quarter.

Im still just gov smacked that we didn’t run it on 3rd and 1. It changed everything about this game.

Yep, and it wasn’t even that close. So much so I thought the Commanders had decided to kick since the Lions hadn’t jumped offside.
