Deleterious Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Cades extension without all NBA will count as $38.5M on next years cap. With all NBA it will count as $46.2M. That is a significant amount of money to lose when they were already tight cap space. Quote
Deleterious Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Sam Vecenie did a rookie power ranking and had Holland 14th. Quote A new entrant worth mentioning this month is Holland, who continues to provide energy for the Detroit Pistons even if his offense remains a real question. He gives a ton of effort on defense, gets out in transition and has remained in the rotation for a Pistons team that has taken an enormous leap while creeping around .500. Dalton Knecht also comes in after some strong games earlier this season for the Los Angeles Lakers. However, his defense remains a real issue. Quote

Guys like Luka, Embiid, Paolo, Franz, Chet, etc I'm happy he's playing at that level. I'm not so happy about the loss of cap space for a team that already has few options to improve. Quote
Deleterious Posted Wednesday at 05:22 PM Posted Wednesday at 05:22 PM So just estimated their cap space now that Reed is off the books next year. If they renounce all free agents except Beasley, they should have roughly $19M in cap space. Add another $7.2M if they renounced Beasley. That assumes Cade does not make all nba. So things aren't as bad as believed. Quote

Deleterious Posted Wednesday at 08:32 PM Posted Wednesday at 08:32 PM People are saying Detroit did not apply for a disabled player exception for Ivey. You have to be out for the remainder of the season to get one. Wonder if they do feel he has a shot at coming back. Quote

I always wanted to see somebody like Wemby or Giannis on a fastbreak take off on one leg from the 3 point line and try like a 3pt layup. With their length if they really extended surely they could release it inside 7 or 8 ft. Edited Thursday at 06:13 PM by RandyMarsh Quote

buddha Posted Thursday at 09:15 PM Posted Thursday at 09:15 PM which of those guards would you take over cade? Quote

He's a chucker who doesn't play winning basketball or defense at all. Mitchell is the closest, but with Cade's size and the fact that he's just 23, I'm taking Cade. Lillard's washed. You can make a case for Brunson, but he doesn't and can't defend, just too small. I put Trae in the same bucket as Lamelo. Maxey is a nice scorer, but not a franchise leader, imo. Quote
Deleterious Posted Friday at 12:30 AM Posted Friday at 12:30 AM If Duren would learn to play a little defense, Cade would make him a rich man. 1 Quote
Deleterious Posted Friday at 12:38 AM Posted Friday at 12:38 AM Low bar. But that Stewart contract might be one of the best things Weaver did here. 1 Quote
Deleterious Posted Friday at 01:15 AM Posted Friday at 01:15 AM Pistons have 13 turnovers at the half. Cade has been double and triple teamed all game. Quote
Deleterious Posted Friday at 02:07 AM Posted Friday at 02:07 AM Pacers are taking Cade and Beasley out of it and letting anyone else do whatever they want. They know only those two can really hurt them. Quote

They know only those two can really hurt them. Frustrating to watch this game, but it's the same issue I brought up recently. When teams play up on the perimeter (playoff defense) we have no answer. Off-ball cuts and penetration can loosen up tight perimeter defense, but we don't or can't do either of things consistently. Combine that with Cade and Beasley being ice cold from three and you've got an ugly game. That said, some of the whistles in this game were interesting. Holland wasn't allowed to play defense at all, yet Indy could clutch, grab, move on screens, and have two hands on our guys (especially Cade) at all times. That's the benefit of establishing your style and control over the game early - the refs just start letting it go. On a positive note, I love how these teams hate each other. JB's postgame comments were priceless. Quote
