I've programmed spreadsheets that write SQL code to query a database, and also have a special computer that runs a program that queries a SQL Server database.

I have shared SAS/SQL code back and forth with programmers in government (mostly CDC).  They use SQL and they have pretty sophisticated programmers.

Yup, I am not really a SQL programmer,  but I frequetly use it in SAS.

You are a sql programmer.    The only diff is that PROC SQL allows you to leverage SAS functions.   That u can use the calculated syntax is awesome, in other languages i have to make a subquery to use a field calculated in the query in the same query.

What I mean is I am more comfotable with data steps than proc sql.  I can do anything in a data step pretty easily. I have to think more when I do Proc SQL, although there are definitely things that are easier to do in SQL and it's more efficient in terms of processing time.

Gotcha.   I like proc sql when i can use it to roll stuff up a level,or eliminate a sort before a merge or data step with a set by.

Just now on my TV, while standing in the Oval Office with a child he created, he said his team is empowered to report to him if he has a conflict of interest as he guts federal agencies while collecting checks as a federal contractor.

Ferdinand Porsche was a brilliant car designer but he didn't take enough ketamine to also be Albert Speer.

Werner von Braun was a talented rocket scientist but he never had the moxie to also be Joseph Goebbels.

"our Germans are better than their Germans"

Fascinating account in David Halberstam's book The Fifties about how Werner and his crew surrendered.

there is an amazing anecdote in some book about them going to some US department store and the scientists all breaking out their slide rulers to convert US bra sizes to metric so they could buy stuff for their wives.

Cut the guy some slack.  When you have 12 kids from 4 different women, you need to have one with you at all times to avoid being a deadbeat dad.

This is the single dumbest thing any President has ever said in public.  It's historic and it will never be beaten by anyone else.  Don't even try.
