I had to do a search whether mine has done any, and she did one, out in Wheaton, in August 2023. Nothing on the calendar coming up. A daughter of Guatemalan immigrants doing a town hall out in Wheaton. I wonder how that went. I don’t remember our backbench congress critter holding one in the four years we’ve been here. He has a giant R beside his name. He’s also owned by Newport News Shipyard Quote
oblong Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Didn’t town Halls lead to the 2010 gains by the GOP in congress? Or was that before? Quote
Tiger337 Posted February 22 Posted February 22 I honestly don't get what calling my representative is going to do. My reps are Democrats, so they don't need influencing. They'll just put me on a mailing list and ask me for money. What I want to see is massive peaceful protests by the people independent of their party. 1 1 Quote
chasfh Posted February 22 Posted February 22 I wonder whether the warming weather coupled with with the continued atrocious assaults on democracy in American will start bringing out the protests. I would guess it would take one catalyst event that touches nerves and gets social media traction. It might take something along the lines of announcing the complete privatization of social security and/or Medicare, and putting Elon in charge of making that happen. Quote

The people in the Red districts need to scare, shock and disrupt the GOP reps. The point is both protest and disruption of their lives. Quote

For as much as these guys talk about running their government like a business, I've never seen an email like that at all in my professional career. Probably because it would be terrible for business to send an email like that Edited February 22 by mtutiger 1 Quote

Tigerbomb13 Posted February 22 Posted February 22 It’s so insulting. So many hard working, non partisan people for no other reason than having federal jobs. 1 Quote
Edman85 Posted February 22 Posted February 22 (edited) So many got nothing done because they were forced to the office before the IT was ready to handle them. A good chunk of my coworkers basically had no choice to twiddle their thumbs this week with no connectivity and all our work being on the cloud now. Edited February 22 by Edman85 Quote

Edman85 Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Current direction for us is "do not reply" because of the sensitive nature of our work and the lacking security clearance/privacy act need to know of the requestors. Quote
