I spent 10 minutes to find this post just to follow up on the Nazi IT people and the dos prompt. The cmd command not only worked on the network, but on a school issued laptop. How fricken cool is that??? Thank you, I would buy you a couple of beers if I could. I got the biggest kick out of that. 2 Quote

I trust him as far as I can throw Donald Trump. Maybe I am naive, but I don't really get why he is so far ahead of everyone in net worth. Bezos and some others seem more successsful. Quote

Tesla stock is way overinflated because Musk has developed a cult like following where everyone thinks he's a genius and Tesla is on the cutting edge. The fact is, Tesla never delivers. He promised full self driving was a year away in 2016. He promised one million robotaxis by 2020. He lies about Tesla's self-driving capabilities. The cars are among the worst in build guy and lag behind others in self-driving. Despite all that, Tesla at one point had a higher market value than the top 10 automakers combined. He's just a much more skilled conman than Trump. Quote
romad1 Posted February 26 Author Posted February 26 Interesting thing occurred to me. This map reflects the difference between a country in which Russian troops were and where US and British troops were stationed between 1945 and 1989. I often think of the value and knock on effect on the US troops who came out of their rural and urban provincialist upbringings and lived among the strange German society totally different from what they were used. I really hadn't given too much thought to my German friends who also were exposed to the random US cultures. They were into hip hop, heavy metal and liked American sports. They lost their minds for Tom Cruise in Top Gun. Their dads seemed ok to have US servicemembers date their daughters even if there was a bit of an age discrepancy (that actually still blows my mind). Not sure how you fix the gap between that acculturation and whatever the hell happened in East Germany. Stationing troops there isn't really in the long range plan unless Poland is invaded and we need to build up our buffers. 1 Quote

I hadn’t considered the idea of everyone retreating to their corners and recreating the old parochial divisions of a century-plus ago. Quote

The joy of blasting on the autobahn in a subsidized American gas guzzler at 120mph listening to Rush's La Villa Strangiato while on my way to a different US base to attend college classes will be a memory that i will cherish for all my days. 1 Quote

I also asked him why he supported cutting Medicaid and Snap, why he doesn't speak out on the tariffs that threaten auto jobs in the district and why he supports Musk cutting VA funding and firing thousands of vets. Since the only thing he can talk about is his military service, I asked him if he is a loser or sucker. I await his canned response. 1 Quote

Shades of Deivi Cruz Posted February 26 Posted February 26 I still use Twitter, but I am also low engagement. I've never actually posted anything on it and literally have zero followers (I mean, why would anyone follow when I don't post anything...). I just use it to follow some accounts that aren't on BlueSky yet. Quote

mtutiger Posted February 27 Posted February 27 I remember fondly when "President Musk" was just liberal hysteria and not, you know, reality. Quote
