I have zero sympathy for anyone involved in the company.  Get out of there.   The whole collateral damage argument is the same argument for federal employees.  Until we get some measure of control over THAT by making Tesla shareholders suffer deeply we can't exert any measure of control over Musk.  We must make having a Tesla worse than smoking in a neo-natal wing of a hospital.   Its not legal to set fire to a car or damage a dealership.  Just as it wasn't "technically legal" to assault the US Capitol on Jan6.

Fine, let the drivers of said cars know how you feel about them.  Treat them with disdain.  Add some saliva to their paint job as you walk past.  Place a nice letter in a Tesla owner's mailbox telling them they should get rid of the car.

Tesla is fair game.

Homage to a Government, Philip Larkin

Next year we are to bring all the soldiers home
For lack of money, and it is all right.
Places they guarded, or kept orderly,
Must guard themselves, and keep themselves orderly
We want the money for ourselves at home
Instead of working. And this is all right.

It's hard to say who wanted it to happen,
But now it's been decided nobody minds.
The places are a long way off, not here,
Which is all right, and from what we hear
The soldiers there only made trouble happen.
Next year we shall be easier in our minds.

Next year we shall be living in a country
That brought its soldiers home for lack of money.
The statues will be standing in the same
Tree-muffled squares, and look nearly the same.
Our children will not know it's a different country.
All we can hope to leave them now is money.

For years when I talked about gun control, I was pushed back by conservatives saying we needed the guns for our freedom to fight back against a tyrannical government. Here we have a tyrannical government, but it's supported by the people who said we needed guns to resist it.

Tesla is fair game.

In the meantime, a cabinet official speaking in his official government capacity is showing how it's OK for this particular government to pick winners and losers.

Hopefully this is one instance which I hope the magazine with the hubris to call itself "Reason" gets right.

Relevant part bold-faced for your consideration.

Electrek’s Take

I have some experience in financial accounting, having learned the basics from the excellent Brian Bushee at Wharton, but I never felt that I was knowledgeable enough to make such an accusation against Tesla.

Shady accounting at Tesla is something people have been pointing out for years, but it’s the first time I’ve seen it getting traction from a major financial outlet like the Financial Times.

This is likely going to put pressure on Tesla and its auditors.

However, for those hoping for Tesla to get in hot water for cooking the books, I would remain careful. Not only could there be explanations for this, but with Trump and Musk kneecapping the SEC, repercussions are unlikely.

Ketamine and Adderall

And when the tolerance level to the high of merely hurting people kicks in and it no longer works, what's the next logical step to get that same high?

Yes of course.  We know he didn't destroyed the regulators for any other reason than his whims.

Destructive monopoly causing chaos on people who do not deserve it while pocketing billions in government revenue and picking winners and losers and avoiding any regulatory overwatch is the issue.   This just makes me angrier.  I'll show you NPC mutha ****er.

And I'm sure they will immediately refrain from accessing that data in compliance with this order. 🙃

Based on suspicion or hope?

We haven’t heard much from the Cocaine Kid since Elon has gotten involved.  I wonder if he feels left out or happy it gives him more time to blow his nose.
