Deleterious Posted February 13 Posted February 13 I know he doesn't. But it seems like Stew blocks 1 dunk attempt per game. 1 Quote
Deleterious Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Pacers ended up winning. Milwaukee is up 1 on Minnesota right now with under a minute left in the game. Quote
buddha Posted February 13 Posted February 13 it's good to see the pistons just be able to **** with bad teams. "oh, you make a couple threes to get it to 10? ah well, we'll just take the game seriously for 3 possessions and its back to 16." 1 Quote
buddha Posted February 13 Posted February 13 part of me feels bad for stacey king (a very very small part of me). having to spew garbage like ayo dosumnu as an all star or josh giddey as a great offensive player. he must need to go home and shower every night to wash the bull**** off of him. Quote
buddha Posted February 13 Posted February 13 to give stacey his due - and all the bulls announcers - they gush over ausar and how good they think he is. 1 Quote

Speaking of .500, the Pistons played December .500, were 3 games over .500 in January and are currently 3 games over in February with 5 to play. Tough final 5 games this month but have a shot at back to back winning months and 3 of atleast .500 or better. 1 Quote
Deleterious Posted February 13 Posted February 13 They are off until Friday the 21st in San Antonio. Quote
RandyMarsh Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Ausar has now gone 9 straight games without attempting a 3 and 10 out of the last 11. Looks like he and coaches decided to not even bother with that anymore. Quote
Deleterious Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Sam Vecenie was talking about the Thompson twins on his podcast. He still doesn't think either one of them will ever develop a shot. He said he still likes both of them a lot and he feels Ausar has the best shot of becoming the Pistons second star. Quote
buddha Posted February 13 Posted February 13 ausar will be an interesting player moving forward. can you have a "star" player in today's nba who cannot shoot outside of 5 feet and isnt 7'0? he has so many other skills, but the one skill that means the most in today's league eludes him and he will likely never have it. seeing this team in a legit nba playoff series will be fascinating to see how other teams attack him and duren. Deleterious Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Thompson might be better served working on a little 10-15 foot pull up jumper. Seems like it would be easier to teach someone to make that shot compared to a 3 point shot. It would also give him options on times he cant get all the way to the rim. Just because he gets the ball behind the 3pt line wide open doesn't mean he has to shoot that. Take two dribbles and stick the 12 footer in their eye. His FT% isn't good so maybe not. 1 Quote
NYLion Posted February 13 Posted February 13 (edited) Have said it before and will say again. Ausar's ascension raises the ceiling for this team considerably, not to mention Duren unlocking some playmaking potential. Really soft schedule the last 4 games but the signs of a good team emerging are there. This season displays even more what an incompetent buffoon Monty Williams was last year. Same with his brother who has also blossomed this year as well, can't hit an outside shot but is an impact player. They don't need Ausar to hit 3's if he keeps playing like this. ben9753 Posted February 13 Posted February 13 I just sat and watched that on a loop about 20 times. That is unreal. Quote
Deleterious Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Basketball-Reference playoff probability tracker. Their prediction where Detroit will finish. They have a section labeled "out" and Detroit is the last team without a percentage in that column. 3 0.1% 4 10.9% 5 22.1% 6 30.7% 7 18.3% 8 9.7% 9 3.4% 10 0.1% Quote
Shinzaki Posted February 13 Posted February 13 This team is so much fun to watch in transition. They have a very athletic starting five. Ausar has value now ..if he could develop a decent shot..he's a star for sure. Quote

You can if you make him the ball handler, the screener, the cutter, or the dunker. It's not that tough as long as you have a couple other spacers on the court. Monty couldn't figure it out at all all last year and benched Ausar after his excellent start and then stuck him in the corner when he did give him minutes. Luckily it only took about 30 games (and a Jaden Ivey injury) for JB to figure it out. Fact is, contrary to internet logic, the Pistons offense has actually been a lot better since Ausar moved into the starting lineup on January 1st. And, of course, the defense has been better as well. Speaking of which, Duren's getting a lot of praise for his recent improvement, and some of that is true, but a lot of it is also what Ausar does to make his life easier along with JB's change to their overall defensive scheme. Deleterious Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Keith Smith broke down this summers cap space now that the trade deadline is over. He only projects Brooklyn to have cap space this summer. He lists Detroit as a swing team. Meaning they could create some space if needed. He also predicts a big summer for trades. He thinks multiple stars could be on the move this summer. Post-Trade Deadline 2025 NBA Cap Space and Spending Power Projections Quote The Pistons could be a cap space team this summer, with up to $24.6 million to spend. That could aid in bringing back Malik Beasley, if he’s looking at more than the Non-Taxpayer MLE (NTMLE). If Detroit can get Beasley to come back for the NTMLE, they’re better off staying over the cap and using various Bird Rights to re-sign players like Dennis Schroder and Tim Hardaway Jr. Quote
Deleterious Posted February 14 Posted February 14 If you use the MLE on Beasley how do you replace THJ and Schroder? In a year you have no 1st round pick and no cap space. I think we can agree Sasser isn't the answer. Nobody else on the roster can play PG so Keeping Schroder might be our only option. I think with Ivey back next year you can lose THJ no problem. But the front office might want him back on a very cheap deal as a locker room guy. Quote
