Is there a plan I can purchase that will enable me to enjoy this site, without the ads? It is to the point of leaving, but I really like you Morons. Quote

I find the site pretty unusable by phone, but the blockers on a PC browser are fairly effective. MTWG used to run a subscription service for the old site but said it was more costly to administer than it yielded. In general, if you are network savvy, apparently the best way to block ads at for you whole home network is at the DNS level using a raspberry PI at your router, but it only works if your router allows you redirect DNS, and if you are on ATT&T you are out of luck as it's locked down on their equip. Router method is obviously easier. But you can still use a Pi for DNS ad blocking if your router wont redirect. You just have to manually change each device to use the Pi server. Just a one time thing though, set it once and done. So its not awful to do it that way. Quote

True, you can also do a pass through to another router, but then that's one more stop in the IP chain. Quote

Motown Bombers Posted February 13 Posted February 13 For web browser, I use the extension uBlock which blocks all ads on this site. For my iPhone, I use AdGuard. AdGuard isn't free, but it's only $5 per year and blocks everything on this site. It also works great on other sites and apps. Quote

The site is borderline unusable on iPhone. I will click a link to reply or go to a thread and will get a pop-up ad for some game. Then close the ad and go back to where I was where I will see a creep-down ad. I will click the up arrow to make that recede to the top and then I get the game pop-up ad again. Then I close that ad again and go back to where I was to start with. Then I click the link again and get the pop-up ad again, then close the ad and return to the top of the page, from which I have to scroll down to where I was to start with. Motown Bombers Posted February 13 Posted February 13 (edited) I don't have a Mac so I use uBlock on my Chrome browser on my PC. AdGuard I only use on the iPhone. $5 a year is worth it for just the iPhone. If you do use an Android, Chrome and Firefox allow extensions on mobile browsers. You can get uBlock on your mobile browser if you use an iPhone. I haven't checked if Firefox has extensions for the iPhone version. Edited February 13 by Motown Bombers Quote
