I'm not totally sold that isn't a fools errand in the end for a baseball player, but they clearly have their reasons. I suppose keeping the legs fresh and not overused might be the angle. So if that is indeed the objective, hit more home runs and trot around the bags. Quote

Can handle center and is a better bat than somebody like Kriedler. I would go get Moniak NOW. LH'er with .866 OPS against RH'ers in 2023 (has EXTREME splits so he sits against LH'ers and Baez can go play CF, at least until Wenceel heals up...); .660 OPS against RH'ers in 2024 (that sucks) but career .710 OPS against RH'ers along with a career OPS+ of 110 against same. He's worth a band aid platoon for a couple months, as a lefty, and I don't care if we turn around and jettison Margot, eating the contract. Moniak is actually a REAL CF'er. Just my 2 cents. Quote
Dan Gilmore Posted March 25 Posted March 25 When the Angels don’t want you, I would have to be given stronger arguments than he was good against RH two years ago. 3 Quote

On the other hand, I wouldn't worry about making roster decisions based on parallels with what the Angels think. I think the bigger priority here is to patch something together to bide time until Vierling/Meadows return while at the same time keeping Greene out of CF as much as possible. Now, Moniak's 2023 was fueled by a .397 BABIP, so I agree that his 2023 OPS should be discounted as such. But he is a 110 +OPS vs RHPs on his .318 BABIP vs RHPs over his career. So, if he can field CF well enough and maybe just maybe hit enough at the bottom of the order to fill a platoon role in CF, I think its worth consideration. He'd be cheap, he'd be expendable, he'd fill a short term role. 1 Quote

Not much different than Moniak except he's 6 years older. I'd have preferred Moniak. But as a stop gap, expendable band aid... it doesn't really matter. They got who they wanted... specifically for this reason. Quote
Shinzaki Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Moniak is a former 1/1....Like Tork...someone saw something sometime Quote
