I'm sure the phrase "championship season" goes way back to the beginning, but I started hearing the phrase in the wild more in the last six or eight years. Quote

On the other side of the same elocution - the one that was like fingernails on a chalkboard to me was Vin Scully's use of 'regular year'. Are there teams out there somewhere playing in an 'irregular' year and we're missing it? Quote

I have heard it here and there, but I didn't know it was the official MLB language for the "regular season" which is what I have always called it. "Championship season" sounds like a name for the playoffs. Quote

IdahoBert Posted March 22 Posted March 22 LAKELAND, Fla. -- Parker Meadows’ tenuous status while waiting on a nerve in his upper arm to awaken now has a little more certainty. The Tigers center fielder will remain sidelined for at least the next four weeks on the recommendation of specialists, including Dr. Raj Singh, after undergoing a nerve conduction test. Quote

IdahoBert Posted March 22 Posted March 22 I’ve had all sorts of little “nerve“ things going on with elbows and shoulders and after a while they went away, and I can barely remember them, but it took time. Quote

I don't think Jones will do much, but I'd rather take a shot at the unkown than keep pretending Kreidler's gonna click becuase he had two good months - 4 years ago. Hopefully Vierling is back soon. I am fearing bad news - like really bad news on Meadows. Quote

They start and end for no obvious reason. When I get a muscle injury. I usually have an idea what caused it, about how long it will take to get better and I can feel it getting better gradually. Nerves just do what they want. Quote

Nerve conduction tests are nasty. They hurt more than the injury they are trying to diagnose. In the first part of the test, they give you electric shocks that feel like they are repeatedly hitting you with a hammer. Then the stick needles in you muscles and have you flex. The pain is excruciating. 2 Quote

My next question would be "How long would the knife be?" Edited March 23 by Motor City Sonics 1 Quote
IdahoBert Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Fortunately, I’m not important enough for nerve conduction tests. For the nerve issue with my shoulder, I was inconvenienced by having a hard time putting on a coat or a shirt for a year and with my elbow, I wore a compression brace for a year. Quote

Motor City Sonics Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Here's a mind-blowing fact. Bruce Rondon is only 34. Seemed like he played for us 20 years ago. How about the Tigers are part of the story of the glorious comeback of one time Rookie Of The Year Kyle Lewis ! Quote

Mickey Stanley’s 1968 World Series is a great story, He had all of 68 innings at SS that season before taking the slot in the championship. Maybe he didn’t hit all that well in the series, but he was easily the better batting option over Oyler. 1 Quote
