New season.

New thread

I see that Mike Trout is moving to RF.

Cool.  That'll clear a path for Anthony Rendon to move to CF when he gets back...........in 2027.

Mike Trout had 3078 PA from 2015-2019, he's had 1374 since.

Waste of a brilliant career.     See: Barry Sanders & Calvin Johnson

I don’t see the parallels. Trout has been ravaged by injuries, but keeps rehabbing and trying to get back on the field.

The teams never did anything during their careers.   Cracked the playoffs a couple times but were eliminated immediately.

I'd like to see Trout get a shot at a ring, unless it's the Dodgers or Mets.       The Angels wasted him just like the Lions wasted Barry and Calvin.

Ahhh—got it.  And you’re correct.  In both cases, it was front office ineptitude.

I think if Trout ever gets dealt, it would be to his hometown Phillies. His contract and health would make that very difficult, though.

That and they have more sports journalists than non-journalists in the North East.

And there are links calling for Boston to trade him to....Detroit. Yeah, it'll never happen and the writers are just speculating, but it's fun seeing the chaos in Boston. Idiots HAD an All-Star 3rd baseman on a big contract and went out and signed another 3rd baseman for $40 million per year. Pretty stupid. I hope they finish in 5th place in the East.

I hope the White Sox finish with a better record but you know it won't happen.

The east coast writers pick Detroit any and every time the Yankees or Red Sox are looking to unload a player. Of course we are where Torres ended up.......🤔

If the Red Sox want to win, they'll put the Gold Glove winner at third base, bring the kid up to play second, and move the stone glove to DH.

If the Red Sox want to mollify their high-priced players, they'll keep Stoneglove at third, play the new guy out of position at second, and keep both the kid in the minors and their fingers crossed.

My Red Sox fan buddy is none too happy about all this.

I believe Devers is stating at third base and Bregman is going to second base.

On Foul Territory AJ Pierzynski said the same. He said you don't want to piss off Devers who has 10 years left on his contract, and Bregman might only be there a year. The other guys disagreed and said you field your best team, period. Cora will have fun managing this

I could see Devers wondering “What am I, chopped liver?” But according to the Red Sox MLB beat writer, he and Bregman are the best pals already. They can barely restrain themselves from breaking into song and singing “we are the world…“

Meanwhile there is a reporter for the Nantucket High School Beacon who has been hiding in the dry wall in the locker room at the Red Sox facility with a breathing tube and 5 days of food and water waiting to reveal a locker room incident involving the toothpaste caps of two assistant coaches being put on the wrong tubes of toothpaste.  "You MUTHAF&*Ker! I told you Gleem and Arm and Hammer are TWO DIFFERENT COLORS!"

Boy, if you were a Mariners fan, how pissed would you be at this offseason?   One game away from making the playoffs last year and they've done NOTHING.

The Rangers are going to rebound and don't snooze on the A's.   The A's could actually be sneaky good this coming season.      They have gone from an ugly situation where the fans were getting their hearts ripped out, and players were getting minor leagued  for showing fan support to now being in a situation where a fan base is going to be auditioning for an future MLB franchise and they will be extremely supportive.   They made some decent moves this offseason.   The Astros also made moves to try to keep their hold on the division.     But the Mariners?   Well, at least they get to be in the same division as the Angels.

the A's are the Jeremy Bearemy of MLB.

Verlander has embraced the role of being a willing mentor in SF that I knew he would have in Detroit, given the opportunity. He’s been very involved with the younger pitchers through watching their bullpens and sharing his ideas and observations with them. Nothing but positive vibes from Bob Melvin down.
