I have just taken what I think is actually a pretty good survey by MLB about my fandom, and I have provided my most salient opinion.

I can't listen to 97.1 anymore because of all the sports gambling ads.   Enough already.    I know I am not as into sports as I once was because I am older and have other things going on, but the sports betting aspect is ruining everything.   Just like the money is just destroying any good parts of college sports now.   I don't want USC and UCLA in the Big Ten.  And yes, while the schools make a fortune, the guys risking their bodies deserve to get paid, but it went from nothing to completely out of hand with no adjustment to it and it just doesn't feel legit anymore.

I don’t even open those survey links anymore. One of the first questions that they ask is your age. Being a realist, I know they don’t give a **** what a 70 year old fan thinks.

The whippersnappers in the league office probably refer to your generation as “the complete gamers”.

The first question I usually see in these surveys are, “How much would you recommend [Our Product] to a friend?” It’s the most useless question they could ask when it comes to true product feedback, but the most valuable to marketing efforts.

Horrible scheduling overall.    Tigers are lucky they got out of it at 2-4.

I'm not sure what that means.  The way the league is set up, they have to play the Dodgers and have to play west coast games.  They got some of that out of the way early and the good parts of their schedule are yet to come.  .

Not just the Tigers, but not having the Dodgers and Padres play until June?     That's ridiculous.

They still have to go 27-5.  27-5 is a helluva month.  And they’ve already got 8-0 in the bag.  That 35-5 is just incredible.

And to me, the most baseball aspect of that 35-5 start is how the Tigers went to Seattle and promptly got swept.

For anyone interested in learning more about the torpedo bats, and more so just the science in optimizing bat making for performance, the Rates& Barrels podcast had a good podcast discussing it.

Look what arrived in my inbox from the good people at MLB Marketing:

This is ostensibly a daily newsletter. That’s how they promote it, anyway.

They are so out of touch with today’s MLB.    The subject should’ve read:

Phils deal Dodgers first loss. FanDuel now has the Dodgers +300000 to go 161-1

It’s no accident their “news” letter comes from the email address info@marketing.mlbemail.com. It’s completely out in the open that their focus is to privilege those teams and players they perceive as superior revenue generators over all others. They’re not even trying to hide that they favor and even root for the Big Six teams and their temporary honorary members (currently the Braves, Orioles, and Phillies) over nobody teams like the Tigers. Maybe Scott Harris can succeed in achieving honorary membership for us in a few years and make it last for a while. But we’ll almost certainly never be a Big Six team. This is the state of the MLB business model, and if you love baseball played at the highest level, you’ll accept it or you’ll find another sport to follow instead.

I want to say I remember watching that final game, a Sunday game, and a Mariners fan jumped onto the top of the Tiger dugout with a broom and started joyfully sweeping.

The Astros entered the day 3-4 despite their 2 - 6 hitters batting .125/.120/.179/.111/.130 with 3HR and 10 RBI
