Being the Tigers Centerfielder is like being Spinal Tap's drummer.

Didn't Billy Corgan keep firing drummers at Smashing Pumpkins? I was never a fan but my kids were so I got the second hand rumors.....

According to a photo posted by Ben Verlander the Tigers got rid of the pathway from the plate to the mound.   It bothers me and I can’t give you a good reason why.

So they take Javy out before he gets the chance to make a throw to the plate. Hard to say if Kreidler's throw was bad or not as it looked like it hit the mount/rubber - which is just bad luck.

Had just come here to post it.

I may be wrong, but I have a feeling there’ll be enough traffic between Detroit and Toledo this year to justify a 200 mph underground Japanese bullet train between the two cities.

Yeah, it bothers me, too.  But what was the point of it to begin with, does it matter, who cares?  It'd have been funny if nothing were mentioned about it and it was up to individual folks to figure it out on there own, how long would it have taken a person to notice?  Would it be the same kind of thing as realizing the jersey D and the hat D were different?

I was thinking of that too.... would I have noticed?  Yet once I am aware it stands out.  I don't want to reflexively bash Chris Ilitch over this.  There's plenty of other reasons to as to how this franchise is presented to the fans.  Maybe Heather Nabozney told him he wasn't worth the hassle?  Maybe the league wanted uniformity?  Maybe the players didn't like it?

I'm open to a benefit of the doubt here....

I don't know.  One drummer, Jimmy Chamberlin, was fired because he was doing heroin with Jonathan Melvoin when he died from an O.D.  He came back to the band after being sober for years and I think he's still with them now.

For those younger posters, the joke is that Spinal Tap's drummers all die in strange ways.  One spontaneously combusted during a concert and another died in a "bizarre gardening accident".     Which is weird, since Toto drummer Jeff Porcaro died after an allergic reaction to an inhaled lawn pesticide.   It wasn't that alone, but it triggered his death.  This was 8 years after the movie.

I guess you’re not the only one caught by surprise on this. A Cubs fan friend set that to me and I had to admit to him I wasn’t gonna lie I knew nothing about it.

What reason did they give?

Tony Paul's article said the team wanted a more uniform playing conditions, based on feedback from players and coaches.

If that's true then fine.  Why have something different than everybody else?  If we are being honest it was kind of gimmicky.  They put it in Tiger Stadium during the final few weeks and carried it over to Comerica.  It's not like it's this grand tradition.  This isn't the Green Monster.

As long as the traditional Pizza Spear made the trek out west, things should be good to start the season.

I agree that's agood reason to change it if the players don't like it.  However, it brings me back to what Harris said about the deep fences in the outfield.  He believed that it was a potential advantage to the Tigers if they built their team with that in mind which they seem to be doing to some extent.  Perhaps, they decided that there was no way to turn the dirt strip into an advantage.

If they have a lot of ground ball pitchers, you want grass there instead of dirt.    Try to slow the ball down just a hair and even if its only 4 or 5 plays a game, it probably makes a difference.    MLB The Show 25 is suing.

Has to be roster crunch because Foley has options and someone else didn't. 10k, no BB but 10 hits though. Other guys were hit hard too.

Think he got squeezed, if both Chafin and Hanifee end up making the squad.
