Arlington Posted March 26 Posted March 26 When I was about 7 Mickey Stanley took a huge group of neighborhood kids down to the local field at Mulick Park in Grand Rapids. He told me good catch. I still haven't washed the spot on my back that he patted. I had a very good friend who was a manager at a restaurant in the 1970s and she said that Fydrich was a jerk. Only negative thing I've ever heard about him. Quote

I dated Marilyn Manson's ex-girlfriend (not in the same week) when we were in college and before Manson & the Spooky Kids hit the "big time" (for whatever that meant for those guys...). 1 Quote

In 1988 I was dating a girl and about a month in we’re flipping through a photo album. Her with her parents, her at her high school grad, her running a 5k.. next page, oh yeah, her in a bikini sitting on the lap of some dude in a jean jacket with her arms around her in a lawn chair on a beach in North Carolina at sunset. It was John Mellencamp, lol. 2 1 Quote

Toddwert Posted March 26 Posted March 26 My Cousin was Miss Michigan (insert jokes) and dated a Michigan QB and married a guy who was drafted and Pitched in the Blue Jays system Quote
microline133 Posted March 26 Posted March 26 When Dombrowski was GM of the Red Sox, my favorite party trick out here in New England was texting him and getting a reply....always dumbfounded people. 1 1 Quote

lordstanley Posted March 26 Posted March 26 I'm a bit surprised so many people on MotownForums have dated. Apparently chicks dig the Tiger talk! 1 Quote

RandyMarsh Posted March 27 Posted March 27 My High School and College girlfriend had a short term thing with Cameron Maybin around 2006/7ish. On a side note my Mom went dated and went to prom with former Cy Young winner Bob Welch, I remember my Dad jokingly telling me that she left him to end up marrying the superior baseball player. lol 2 Quote

We saw the Cult live, and then Marilyn Manson live in a dance club in Ft. Lauderdale and she yells in my ear (it was a bit loud...) "I used to date him." Matter of factly. After I picked my jaw up from the floor (he was already heavily made up and a bit androgenous as was the entire band...); but the music was exceptionally cool (at the time... and very, very, VERY hard-edged...) Talked to him a bit. He came by... a bit weird. Must've been around 1989 or so I think... But my memory is a bit hazy. Saw another live alternative band the following week with Karen and I don't remember the name of the band at the moment but it'll come back to me... Quote
1984Echoes Posted March 27 Posted March 27 One of their songs was a cover (I'll remember that too... just give me some time...) and I told him they should include it on whatever album they were going to release because it sounded terrific. I think a Rolling Stones song... but he said "Royalty fees are prohibitive... sorry!" "Crap! But you guys really do sound awesome!!!" Quote
1984Echoes Posted March 27 Posted March 27 (edited) Oh... Gene Loves Jezebel. I remembered. But I think it was two bands that night so now I've got to remember that other band too... Edited March 27 by 1984Echoes Quote

1984Echoes Posted March 27 Posted March 27 One last note on Marilyn Manson & The Spooky Kids... I believe Trent Reznor had already gotten ahold of this band by the time I was hearing them in the local clubs. Their early sound sounded a lot like Nine Inch Nails. I was in an "Industrial Dance" phase at the time, slam-dancing and all that. I was big on Nine Inch Nails and Front 242 and Sisters of Mercy and Nitzer Ebb at the time... but I never went all in on the Manson. Went a bit too far for me. Just a little extra commentary... Quote

And a players dad logged on and threatened a poster on here. Saying something like "don't make me come to Royal Oak and kick your ass."....good times...🤣🤣 1 Quote

Yeah in Metro Detroit it is known as shall I say a gay friendly town, I lived there for a several years and I loved it but yeah that is the rep in Metro Detroit. Quote
