But in the end, maybe Zimm rubbed off on him. https://www.nbcsportsphiladelphia.com/news/casper-wells-dad-was-thoroughly-unimpressed-by-sons-performance/278801/ For more on Casper Wells’ dad, we go to ESPN’s Jayson Stark, who gave the utility player a “Special Mystery Pitcher Citation” in his weird and wacky highlights from the 2013 baseball season. His pitching line: 2/3 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 3 BB, 0 K, 40 pitches, 22 strikes. And a fairly momentous addendum: LP: Wells (0-1). His hitting line: 7 AB, 0 H, 0 R, 0 RBI, 1 BB, 4 K What's up with that? Wells was the first Phillies position player to get hung with a loss on the mound since Bob Bowman, on Sept. 18, 1959. So that was interesting. And he saw 42 pitches as a hitter -- and threw 40 pitches as a pitcher. You don't see that much! But our favorite Kernel collector, ESPN Stats and Info's Doug Kern, reports that Wells also became the first man in 71 years to go 0-for-7 as a hitter and give up five runs as a pitcher in the same game. Last to do it: A real pitcher, Chalmer (Lum) Harris, in a 16-inning complete game for the Philadelphia A's on Sept. 14, 1942. Wells' surreal evening was summed up beautifully (but clearly jokingly) by his biggest fan -- his dad, Casper, to the Albany Times Union: "I looked at the box score, I almost died. That had to be the worst one-game performance by a baseball player ever." 1 Quote

As a side note, my nephew (who lives in San Francisco) asked his mom...."there's a city in Michigan called Bad Ass, isn't there?" He had heard Bad Axe. 😅😅 Quote

John_Brian_K Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Anybody have any pictures of the new seating behind home plate? I heard they took out the tunnel for grounds crew and I know the club is not done yet, but have not been able to see what the area behind homeplate looks like with the new seats. Scored tickets to opening day, but in the nose bleeds, doubt I will be able to see that far! Quote
John_Brian_K Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Also heard about them removing the keyhole....a little bummed by that, I thought it was a nice unique touch, wish they would have kept it, but not screaming about it either. Quote

Doesn't look too different in my opinion. Just bigger seats. Quote
John_Brian_K Posted March 27 Posted March 27 That just shows the keyhole removal for the most part...was there always that little wall behind those seats? It looks like it is separated from the other seats....pretty sure that part is new...cannot have the plebs getting access to the new club by accident! Quote
John_Brian_K Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Makes sense to kind of restrict access, but also the people who are in those seats now....they have park access under the club or through it whatever..., but are they going to be able to walk up I wonder? Quote
papalawrence Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Whatever happened to Casper Wells? I heard he was friendly but a little spooky. 1 Quote

Biff Mayhem Posted March 28 Posted March 28 I haven’t read back through the thread to see if this has been posted (and frankly don’t have the desire). Fanduel is available in the prime app on your smart tv if the fanduel app isn’t available. 1 Quote
1776 Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Longtime Tigers Assistant General Manager Sam Menzin resigns after over a decade with the organization It's unlikely that the Tigers will comment on Menzin's departure, whether or not it was peaceful, and it wouldn't behoove fans to speculate on his reasoning, but Menzin was a top candidate for the roleGreenberg, who worked with Harris as members of the Cubs front office, currently assumes. oblong Posted April 5 Posted April 5 That linked article is just one persons speculation though. I didn’t see any quotes or sourcing to suggest any inside info. Quote
1776 Posted April 5 Posted April 5 The Detroit News did a piece on this yesterday but I don’t have a subscription so I can’t access the piece in its entirety. The heading of the piece in the Detroit News didn’t leave anything to speculation. Quote

The heading of the piece in the Detroit News didn’t leave anything to speculation. Are you talking about the piece that just says "Tigers Assistant GM Sam Menzin resigns"? That kind of leaves everything to speculation, especially when the article says it is u clear why he resigned. Edited April 5 by TigerNation Quote

Edman85 Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Only bit of info I got from it is that he had been working the Lakeland renovations lately. Reads like he was reassigned and crowded out. This is a burner account that hasn't been active in a while, but had enough breadcrumbs around this time to give it at least the appearance of semi-legitimacy. The "arch enemy" line tracks when you see they aren't connected on Linkedin, and it looks like Sartori moved into the role Menzin had last year when the new VP of Analytics was hired. Quote

Obviously there is no speculation as to whether he resigned or not. Quote
