They will have to sign 6 UFA and 4 RFA skaters though....it will be interesting to see how they decide to spend it. This is probably Ehlers' last big contract at age 29 so he might want to test FA to get the most money with teams eyeing that cap increase. Pionk is kind of in the same boat for them too. Just at a quick glance I'd say Ehlers is probably....one of the top 3 or 4 pending UFA with Marner, Bennett and maybe.... Boeser and Donato? Among forwards at least. Shinzaki Posted April 10 Posted April 10 Toronto is intriguing...they have Marner and Tavares as UFA'S and Matthew Kniess as an RFA. Offer sheets are generally frowned upon...but I might load up a poison pill to go after Kniess. He's young and has the size we lack Quote

Shinzaki Posted April 10 Posted April 10 6-3, 230lbs and 20+ goal scorer who's 22? Yep..1st and a 3rd would be cheap Quote

lordstanley Posted April 10 Author Posted April 10 I don't think the Leafs have any interest in trading Knies and I doubt Yzerman would go the hostile route. Quote

Motor City Sonics Posted April 10 Posted April 10 Stop speculating on the big names It's pointless. Yzerman won't go for those. He's going to do the same thing he's been doing the last 3 years. Mid-Level veterans, holding onto or acquiring draft picks. Yawn. This plan is going nowhere. The easiest sport to make the playoffs and it's 9 years now. It's a complete failure. Make Yzerman President and hire a new GM and give them real GM powers. Like the Harris role with the Tigers. That way you didn't fire the sentimental fan favorite. And what the hell happened to Dylan Larkin at the 4-Nations tournament? Not the same guy. Nor was Raymond. Now you start getting into the Wasting Careers territory. 1 Quote
lordstanley Posted April 10 Author Posted April 10 Wings tragic number is 3 pts. So they can’t be mathematically eliminated even if they lose in regulation tonight. Tomorrow is quite possible, when the Wings are at Tampa and the Habs are in Ottawa. Quote

It is not yet mathematically impossible for the Wings to finish last in the Eastern Conference, although that chance looks to be about to be snuffed out with the Bruins losing to Chicago. Quote
Shinzaki Posted April 11 Posted April 11 Quit watching in the 2nd period...Pistons are so much more entertaining this year Quote

Motor City Sonics Posted April 11 Posted April 11 Red Wings funeral was tonight. We thought last year was a launching point. The regressed instead Quote

Shinzaki Posted April 11 Posted April 11 That and Larkin and Raymond coming back from Four Nations a step slower. We may need to look elsewhere for a 1C. Larkin has the talent..but he lacks the durability you want from the guy ostensibly pulling the wagon Quote

It’s going to be a challenge to find a team willing to part with theirs. Quote
