Yeah, Chicago is a cool city to visit but it seems very expensive. They really soak tourists.

you think they really soak tourists?  try living here!  😀

the 18.5% tax on hotels doesnt help.  nor does one of the nation's highest sales tax.

I'm a generous guy. But last time visiting Chicago, I handed out more tips than I had in the previous 2 years here. An evening drinking at Buddy Guys was the limit. I got cheap and said No More  I musta give away $300 in tips on a 4 day trip.

This will probably make people mad but dang what a snipe that was by Tarasenko on the power play

edit: probably jinxed it they're reviewing it for goalie interference which I didn't see

I'm really growing to despise watching Rasmussen play hockey.  It's like he goes out of his way to do the least impactful play every time.  I can't believe he had a stretch where I was actually excited about him as a player, that seems to be completely gone.

he's such a waste.  and were stuck with him on that 3 year deal.  veleno was more impactful.

I'm not sure I'd go that far....Veleno was a big nothing too.  He's currently stuck on Chicago's fourth line and they have one of the worst rosters in the league.  But again, they both suck and I'd argue they have similar impact lol.

I’m 58 and I find I’m becoming more and more like Andy Rooney by the week.

edit: actually, realized I don’t turn 58 until June. Getting so scrambled I can’t even remember my own age

My buddy pointed me to https://capwages.com/ today, I had been using puckpedia as my capfriendly replacement.  Apparently they partner with some sort of analytics company and they're really good at predicting UFA contracts according to him.  The Jets just signed Pionk today for 6 years at $7 million a year, the website predicted 6 years at $6,952,400.  Might be tough for the Jets to fit in Ehlers, they're predicting him to get 6 x $7,515,850.

I don't think I've ever been more let down by a Red Wings season than this one.    They've had worse teams, but you knew they were bad.   This was just a total nightmare.

As far as the 4-Nations thing goes.   I don't think they should do it again during the season.    That was the catalyst for the collapse.   The lack of urgency at the trade deadline - yet again - didn't help either.  Nobody wants to hear about draft capital anymore

It was an underwhelming offseason and that is what played out.     We all saw it.   Achingly close to the playoffs last year and they didn't do much of anything.
