Deleterious Posted Monday at 03:54 PM Author Posted Monday at 03:54 PM Glad he declared. Was getting tired of people saying he would stay because of NIL. 1st year salary for this year's #1 pick is $11.5 million. Teams can, and always do, give 1st round picks 20% over that number. So he is looking at $13.8 million. He was never staying. Quote

I was of the belief that Nico was taking the bullet for the owner who demanded a trade in an evil plot to either somehow force Texas to approve sports betting or to move the Mavs to Las Vegas. I don't know what to think now. All I know is whether he was making the trade on the owner's orders or not - after saying this - he absolutely MUST be fired and as far as any future in the NBA, this guy is radioactive now. What a ****ing idiot. Quote
buddha Posted Tuesday at 03:33 PM Posted Tuesday at 03:33 PM moving the mavs to vegas makes no sense considering sacramento still has a team. Quote

From a league perspective, an open market in Dallas creates an amazing leverage position for any owner looking to squeeze public funds for a new arena. Quote

Dallas is whole different animal. Its metro population is twice as big as Seattle’s and growing bigger every day. It would be a marquee destination for any owner in a smaller market. Quote
Deleterious Posted Wednesday at 12:33 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 12:33 PM I can't wrap my head around paying a premium for a big market team just to move it to a small market. Just buy New Orleans or Charlotte. Save $2 billion on the sale and face far fewer hurdles in moving the team. Quote

They’re premium buyers. Value is probably a turn off for them. Vegas is a weird market for sports as the constant flow of tourists can help add significant numbers to the potential ticket base (at least in theory). Quote

"you think wiseman was bad? i had the most cap space in the league and signed charlie villaneuva and ben gordon!" "wait wait, you thought that was rough, i drafted killian hayes with a lottery pick!" "ummmm....darko over bosh, carmelo, and wade?" "ok, you win." "i dont know, man. you hired monty williams." "yeah, but you hired michael curry!" Quote
