IdahoBert Posted April 6 Posted April 6 I just noticed that on the Gameday app they still have the dirt strip leading from home plate to the pitchers mound. Quote
IdahoBert Posted April 6 Posted April 6 I’m assuming that at 86 pitches Jackson Jobe is done for the day. It’ll be interesting to see. He’s also pitched five innings Quote
IdahoBert Posted April 6 Posted April 6 The Tigers have not made the White Sox pitcher Perez work too hard today. Quote
monkeytargets39 Posted April 6 Posted April 6 McKinstry and Ibanez decide swinging at the first pitch is the way to go…..and kill the inning Quote
IdahoBert Posted April 6 Posted April 6 Hanifee in for Jobe. Good that they’re stretching out his arm. Something he needs to get used to and to face these kinds of batters. Quote
IdahoBert Posted April 6 Posted April 6 A clean 10 pitch top of the sixth for Hanifee. That was quick. Quote
monkeytargets39 Posted April 6 Posted April 6 Hanifee should get the chance to start at some point when we have a need. Quote
IdahoBert Posted April 6 Posted April 6 I’m beginning to think that the only way we win this game is with a three-run walk off pinch hit home run by Greene. i’m putting on my tinfoil pyramid “rally hat” to make this happen. Quote

Perhaps limiting his exposure to LHP by his batting 25th in the game versus 23rd factored into the decision, although unless Martin Perez completes dominates Tigers hitters from the word "go", he probably won't make it to his 23rd hitter anyway. Yes, so, in light of what I posted, of course Perez has dominated Tigers hitters and reached his 23rd and 25th hitters of the game! 🙃 Quote

That’s where I see Jobe at with struggling to put people away with 2 strikes and allowing hitters back in the count. Also Skubals first year where he gave up a lot of home runs. Jobe is going to struggle from time to time but he absolutely needs to be in the major leagues learning. With smaller amount of minor league teams the gap between mlb and aaa has never been bigger and his stuff is to good there. IDK - In 2006 JV had one rough start in April but finished May with a 2.55 ERA. Jobe has some work to do to duplicate that, but here's hoping. (If you are comparing to JV two poor starts in 2005, then that comparison means Jobe should be in Toledo.) But the other side of the question is there anyone at Toledo that is likely to be any better. Neither Manning or Montero off to particularly impressive starts. Edited April 6 by gehringer_2 1 Quote
