So, did the Pistons intentionally lose a couple of games to help secure a Round 1 matchup vs. the Knicks instead of the Pacers?         They didn't beat the Pacers this year and they did beat the Knicks (last night doesn't count, because didn't the Knicks sit a few guys?).

The Pistons are capable of playing very good defense.  This becomes a much bigger deal in a playoff series.    I think they could very well surprise any of the 3 teams in the first round if they can turn it up a notch.

Well, the problem is they are not good at defending the three. 

The Pistons are the 12th worst team at defending the three.  The three pointers allowed with no defender within 10 feet is like 10th worst, no defender within 6 feet is also about the same.

That is why the Knicks are a good matchup.  The Knicks are the 12th best 3PT shooting team by FG%.  But they never shoot it.  They rank 28th in amount of 3PT shots. 

The Bucks and Pacers aren't exactly huge threats either.  They come in at 21st and 15th most shots.

Not sure if its NBATV or ESPN but pretty sure tonight's game is on national TV.  So is Sunday's.

All 30 teams go tonight.  We are interested in Orlando-Indiana and Cleveland-NYK.  Pacers still have a shot at #3.  I think any Pacers loss or Knicks win will lock NYK into the 3rd seed.

And of course Orlando is sitting everyone tonight.  Banchero, Wagner, KCP, and Carter all played Wednesday and are out tonight.

Quick correction: They did crush the Pacers on November 29th during the in-season tournament. Although you're right in that the Pacers won the other matchups and the Pistons went 3-1 against the Knicks.

I think they'd like a Knicks matchups in the first round and so would I. Problem is, the Pacers could still move into 3rd and push the Knicks down to 4th, so these next couple of games could push it either way regardless.

i thought the nba was cracking down on this?  

bulls did the same thing against cleveland.  they had an important game against miami the next night so they sat white, giddey, and vucevic against cleveland.

not to sound like an old man, but this is ridiculous how much they baby these guys.  you are selling an entertainment product.  give the fans what they want, no matter what the "sports science" saya about rest.  rest when youre retired.

Having said that, Stewart is out tonight with knee inflammation. But that's obviously legit. They showed him on the bench last night with huge ice packs on his knees.

Yws, the Knicks need one win for the 3 seed. And they play their last 2 at MSG. Their next opponent is the pathetic Nets. They're gonna be the 3 seed. The Pistons need to sweep the next 2 from the Bucks to move up to the 5 seed.

Giannis might be having the best season to never even get a whisper of MVP.

30ppg 11.9rpg 6.3apg on 62.5% TS% and still capable of playing lockdown defense when needed.  Great season.

Sunday is so meaningless. The NBA must be bummed the Pistons lost. It was an end of season dramatic game made for TV. But rest up and get ready to win in MSG, again.

i dont think the pistons will beat the knicks, but i think they CAN beat the knicks.
