How did you guys watch? I have mlb tv and only the Twins feed was available. Maybe that's because I live in Minneapolis?

Was interesting listening to the MN team. They're very impressed with Jobe and the Tigers. They said more positives about Detroit than they did for the Twins

When you watch your local team on mlb.tv, the opponent's TV crew are blacked out.

4-12 if they lose tomorrow.   You live there, but me, as an outsider, found it stunning that Baldelli wasn't fired in the offseason.   Aren't the Twins for sale?

For years there has talk of the Twins selling. I don't believe anything is close. Minneapolis is much more of a Vikings city. Twins fans are more bandwagon

Thanks, wasn't aware of that

One way around it, kind of, is this: turn on the Twins feed on an mlb.tv app connected or cast to your TV, like a Samsung app or Apple TV box; then bring up Dan and Dan on Tigers radio on the MLB app on another device, like your phone. It's a two step process after that: (1) sync them up; (2) enjoy. I did that yesterday when Dan and Dan kept dropping out on the audio feed of the Apple TV+ app—I pulled up the guys on the MLB app on my phone and just listened to that.

That's exactly why they wouldn't fire him. The appearance of instability when a franchise fires people all over the place reduces the sale price.

Plus, if they were to fire Baldelli, hire someone else, then sell the team, the new manager would probably get fired, too, and no decent replacement manager worth anything would take a job he knew would put him on the chopping block right out of the gate.

I don't agree with that second part.   Someone might be desperate enough.   The Tigers found someone 6 games into the 2002 season - someone who knew they weren't going to be the guy.     There are plenty of coaches that need a shot to pull off a turnaround.

One thing is for sure.  The Twins appear to be undisciplined and unmotivated.

Which is two things.

Bad as Baez has been, we dodged a bullet with Correa.       Yeah, I wanted the Tigers to sign him too, but not at $33 million.  He's a good player (or he was) but he is not a superstar - not even close.

That's a good idea, thanks

How many huge, long-term deals turn on well? Small %. I'm fine if Det never goes that route again, although I'd like to see them retain their own stars

Yeah not many, ironically one of the few that comes to mind that did work out is one where we presumably didn't want to pay the amount to keep him(I say presumably cause it could have been his choice) and that's Scherzer's deal with Washington.

Don't remember the exact details of it but I know he was dominant there just about every year and won multiple Cy Youngs so I'm sure Washington was more than happy with it.

Big LOL to all the pundits who had the Twins winning the central.  And there were a lot of them.

It's a little early to be writing them off...but I agree they don't look impressive.

The Tigers on the other hand are giving me a really good feeling. Last year was fun, but there was luck involved.  This year, there is no luck about it so far.  They are just playing great ball.  Their hitting will likely slow down, but their pitching should get better.

For what it's worth,  I was just looking at their playoff odds on fangraphs and B-ref and they have the highest probability of any team in the American League.

I tried that on the FDS app but couldn't get it synced up because the radio was a couple pitches ahead of the video. No way to pause the radio to sync it to the video.

I was briefly listening to the Twins radio broadcast on xm at the start of the game while I was running an errand and the Twins announcers were saying that the Twins social media employees were really trying hard to drive up interest in the team this year because the fan base has been very lackadaisical so far.

Part of that is they aren’t really good, the other part is a segment of fans are boycotting until the Pohlads sell the team.
