for whatever reason games where i’m traveling and trying to monitor the game while renting a car and navigating to a hotel are always like this.  Frustrating and unknowable because i can’t pay attention besides occasionally checking in with you fine people.

I rented a car yesterday and had a 2 hr 45 min drive from the airport, starting with the Tigers down 2-0 in the 3rd inning. So the  game took me much of the way then after that listened to Sirius XM’s  Masters broadcast. Golf on the radio, can’t say I’ve done that more than a couple of times in my life.

I remember years ago when I had long drives in the middle of the night and in the middle of nowhere in the wide empty spaces of mountain west the only thing on AM radio I could get was Garner Ted Armstrong since FM was unreliable. Sometimes I could pick up radio broadcasts where they presented old radio show dramas from the 40s and 50s and depending upon how the mountains affected the signal it would wane in and out of audibility. In Montana, I could pick up stray broadcasts from places like Kansas City, which were pretty far away.

I was moving back to Michigan from New Mexico on March 26, 1997.   The Wings-Avs game was on that night, the one the big fight, the night the Wings really won the Stanley Cup.    I was driving in Missouri and listening on WJR - clear as a bell.

The issue in my case is a spouse and teen kid who want to listen to music and not follow the game.   My being the Dad who jokingly claims he has college credits in driving from the Community College of the Air Force requires I be the driver.   The wife, while a fully competent trooper who will drive any distance usually does the navigation on this sort of movement to resort/hotel.

The key is winning 2 out of 3 at home and going .500 on the road.   That's 95 wins right there.      Winning 2 out 3 on the road.  Keep that going...........

Winning 2 of 3 in Milwaukee would get us back to .500 on the road. Nice start..

There was nothing better as a kid than listening to games late at night with a transistor radio under the pillow. All those 50 thousand watt AM powerhouse.

I remember surreptitiously listening to the Tigers play the Angels at 11 PM as a kid and enjoying how delighted Ernie Harwell was to say the name Bo Belinski. It really tripped off his tongue in an elegant manner. It was really a great baseball name too. The idea of getting away with something when I was supposed to be asleep was wonderful.

They shouldn't count facing All Star teams that have a billion dollar payroll and the umps in their pocket against our record.

Well, with out top 3 SP going in Milwaukee? We just may come home over .500 on the road. Even including the unfair opening series in LA LA Land
