Plenty to criticize him about. We're talking about a high bar here, a superstar bar. Brunson was, again, in the clutch while Cade wasn't. He's young, he'll learn to take over when the team needs him in the future hopefully but he doesn't have that in him right now. He got the shot they needed. That shot goes in 50% of the time. Today was the other 50%. It happens. 1 Quote

Motown Bombers Posted Sunday at 08:52 PM Posted Sunday at 08:52 PM When did Jim Joyce become an NBA ref? Quote
Hongbit Posted Sunday at 09:33 PM Posted Sunday at 09:33 PM We all know what would’ve happened had the same play occurred but instead was Josh Hart shooting and THJ defending at MSG. 2 Quote
Hart Posted Sunday at 09:38 PM Posted Sunday at 09:38 PM This is the problem with basketball. It has the potential for never ending replays. You could review every call the last two minutes but it would ruin the games for spectators. And the refs are not good enough to get it right the first time around. Quote
Hongbit Posted Sunday at 09:40 PM Posted Sunday at 09:40 PM This is an egregious error that directly impacts the game and the series. David Guthrie and his crew should not be allowed to officiate the playoffs after their assignments are done this round. Will be very telling if the NBA ignores it and allows them to continue on in the playoffs. I expect that not only will they remain but the league will give them a finals game for helping get the result they wanted. 1 Quote

This team turned a corner when Ausar was put in the starting lineup in early January and they won all season long by turning defense into offense. They aren't a team that can let you score and match you offense-for-offense in the half-court because they only have 1 All Star. We won Ausar's minutes by 8 points in this game. We made the run in the second half based on defense with Ausar on the court. Overall in the playoffs the Pistons are 13 points better on defense and 1 point better on offense when Ausar's on the floor. This is simple stuff that's apparent whether you're using the eye test or looking at analytics. Edited 16 hours ago by Betrayer 1 Quote

I don't even know why they need to admit it afterwards, just makes them look worse. "Owning it" after the fact doesn't change anything. With that said, it was a bad non-call but par for the course with the way the game was called so to say one thing in favor of the reffing, at least they were consistent in letting the teams play so the final play was just a continuation of the way the game was called. Bad non-call yes but consistent with the style of reffing in the game which favored the Pistons btw who need to muck it up to have a chance. Edited 15 hours ago by NYLion Quote
Deleterious Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago I keep seeing people say it was consistent with how the game was reffed. I don't recall any jump shooters getting bodied like THJ did and it not being called. 1 2 Quote
