We have one of the best pitchers in baseball going up against KC on Sunday, but four-game sweeps don’t happen that often and the Impersonal God of Mathematical Probability might have something to say about tomorrow’s outcome. But I hope not.

Yeah, I looked it up. He’s actually pretty good. I thought it was Dan and Dan was just talking fast and then Bobby called him Greg and I had to do a double take.

Is there a chance AJ might not field the “A Team” tomorrow because they will be playing their 10th game in 10 days with three against San Diego starting Monday?

Maybe hoping the pitching will stymie KC and the Tigers can scratch out a couple runs to win?

But with only 13 position players there’s not a whole heck of a lot of shuffling he can do.

Michael Wacha is pitching so that means no Ibanez or Malloy.

Gleyber sat today so he will probably play tomorrow. Colt will probably shift back to DH. That means Kreidler would sit.

I think we play Dingler since Nido played Friday, although AJ might have Nido catch the ace. This one is a 50-50 proposition.

And it’s not often you get a chance for a four-game sweep against a division rival, so I would think it’s pedal to the metal time.

I think it’s the “A Team” tomorrow.

Do they even have an A team?  It will be the line-up which puts them in the best position to win like most days.

Thank you both @chasfh and @Tiger337  These are kind of insights I was looking for. Ten days in a row +3 more, that’s a lot of days to get sore, to get worn out, to sprain an ankle to pull an oblique. I can see how it would seem like a grind. The good thing is that all of this is happening within a 10 game homestand with one off day sandwiched in between it all and that might tilt thing in the Tigers direction.

I don't think Dan mentioned it but Hinch put Ibanez in at  2nd to close out the game. Colt had tossed a potential DP ball over Sweeney's head in the 8th. Colt owes him though because Sweeney did such a great job of faking out the runnner he didn't go to third. No base given up, no error charged.

Horn?  Manning and Chafin can’t be happy about that.

Thought I heard on a pod that Chafin is only up to around 90 MPH on his fastball.  Plus he's not on the 40 already.

At this point, what utility is there to having Manning on the 40 if he's not going to be called up?

I suppose the true answer might also be that Horn has more pitches available should the Tigers need to just get through a game.

Hinch does so much shuffling on a daily basis that I don't think there is any need for a "Sunday line-up"

Yes, this is the answer.  If the game gets out of hand to either side, it might be an earlier exit for Greene or maybe even Torkelson, Carpenter, or Torres.  Everybody else is a platoonable player.

I was thinking about catching for the Padres series while watching this game.  Day game (Royals finale), then night, night, day vs the Padres.  So how will that play out?  Nido gets at least one of those vs San Diego.

Dinger would get normal rest going into today's game (vs Kansas City) followed by a little extended rest going into Monday night's game.  Could rest him Tuesday to play Wednesday with Thursday as an off day.  Without looking at pitching matchups, that's probably how I would handle it.

Good point. So that might mean Nido today, Dingler Monday and Tuesday, Nido for the finale.
