Motor City Sonics Posted Wednesday at 10:58 PM Posted Wednesday at 10:58 PM I played Edge Of Seventeen on the air this afternoon in honor of Dingler and told the listeners every time he hits a home run in a day game, I'm playing it. 2 Quote

Sports_Freak Posted yesterday at 01:31 AM Posted yesterday at 01:31 AM It surprises me that I feel so confident with Sweeney at SS. I thought I heard he was a very good hitter and not a good fielder. I must remember that backwards. Quote

Arlington Posted yesterday at 02:26 AM Posted yesterday at 02:26 AM I just ran the numbers on Tiger ERA. Starters (aside from Keider) 2.78. Relievers 2.80 (including Maeda. It's 2.18 sans Maeda.). Amazing to think that we really had one starter for weeks last season. By the way, has anyone mentioned Dingler's record setting throw to second to catch Tatis. Fastest time ever for a catcher's throw to second (maybe to any base. Not sure which one.). 88+ mph. This is just damn exciting stuff. 1 Quote

Neither will he ready this season and Briceno is probably moving to 1B/DH. Liranzo could push Rogers out in ‘26 or ‘27. Quote

I get that recognition by the national baseball media doesn’t matter when taken against winning, and if I had to choose one over the other, I would definitely choosing winning over recognition ten times out of ten. It’s just a personal preference I have to want my team be respected on the national stage, and I get a charge of pride out of it when it happens. And it did happen during the MLB Tonight segment before tonight’s games, so I was happy to see it. If any of the cool kids think that makes me pathetic, then I plead guilty as charged. Quote
Tiger337 Posted yesterday at 02:58 AM Posted yesterday at 02:58 AM I don't even know what national media is anymore. I'll take the wins! Quote

He’s never going to be Mookie at short—I mean, who is?—but he could be a 3-4 win player for a couple seasons somewhere down the line, which might make him 50 Ms or so in his career. I see his upside as Dansby Swanson lite, with a somewhat better stick and a level below on defense but still with a plus glove. Quote

Scoring from 1st today was impressive, even if the RF was chewing turf. Quote
monkeytargets39 Posted yesterday at 06:50 AM Posted yesterday at 06:50 AM Sweeney has been better than his offensive stats are showing to this point. The real question is what is the direction with Colt Keith? He has 16 ABs (plus 2 walks) in the last 9 games. We are basically full platooning him at this point. I’d rather just see him go to Toledo for a month or so whenever one of Vierling/Margot is back and just do a factory reset on his hard drive. Yeah he has 14 walks, but only 2 since April 6th, so it’s not like there’s a true bright spot to hang your hat on right now. Quote

Pitchers are just going to start pitching to him and he has to hit or bye... Quote
chasfh Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago While he may never become a top of the order hitter, I am reasonably confident Sweeney will eventually hit better than he does now, considering both his first-round-draft pedigree and that he hasn't even logged 200 big league plate appearances yet. If he can be a 100 OPS+ hitter with a decidedly plus glove, that would get him over 3 WAR. I think that's within his upside, and quite possibly within the next two or three seasons. Quote

It's the Trey Sweeneys that are one of the things that separate good orgs from bad ones. There solid players out there all the time and some teams identify them and get them, and other teams don't, and it's the strength in the middle and bottom of a team's line-up that is usually made up of those players that make for winning teams. That's a big part of it. Stay is staying healthy. Or at least that has always been the thinking. The Tigers appear to be upending that one, too. Quote
