It’s too bad they can’t just go next door and play indoors at Ford Field. The Dodgers played initially at the LA Memorial Coliseum and it had strange dimensions, but they made it work. Sort of…

With no game tonight, here for your viewing pleasure are 34 beatiful minutes of color footage from the 1968 season. This is similar to, but different than, the Year of the Tiger audio album that is loaded with Ernie Harwell and Ray Lane radio PBP. This is more Harwell narration than play by play.

A lot of extra rest for Jobe. Originally was to pitch tonight but the Tigers switched him and Mize so Jobe would go Saturday. Now he's going Monday instead. I wonder how many innings they want to limit him to? I don't think he's ever pitched 100 innings in the limited time he's been a pro. With Cobb coming back someday, I could see the Tigers holding Jobe to between 125-150 innings.

That's disconcerting.  Mize and Jobe swapped starts with the explanation that Jobe could use the extra day while Mize will be going on normal rest with the Thursday off-day.  Now they are moving Jobe back two more days.

So is tomorrow the Ernie Banks twin bill?

Split double header tomorrow. Ernie would never of such a thing.

I expected them to skip the occasional Jobe start, or at least have him just be an opener at several points this year.  It’s a big innings jump for him

Understood.  But what difference in information did they have between the decision to give him 1 additional day and then 3.  Did they just think it through better or is something up.

That I couldn’t tell you.  Maybe just trying to keep Mize on a consistent rest quantity as much as possible?

True, I remember going to both games of a dbl header back to back in the '70s. Better than Christmas, even when I sat by a guy who puked from too much beer

We used to sit in the parking lot drinking beer until the 4th or 5th inning of the first game. And then go into Tiger Stadium to see a game and a half. Good times, even if I ended up puking. 😅

It turned out to be a very pleasant night in Metro Detroit. Just enough rain to water my freshly mowed lawn. Perfect baseball weather...but...whatever.

I think the DH on Saturday allowed them to call up a 27th player, in this case Montero, that wouldn’t have been available without the rainout.

I went to a couple of twinight doubleheaders in 1984-1986 when I had just gotten my license and was still living at home. I'd eat dinner at home during the first couple of innings of the 1st game, hop in the car in Sarnia and drive to the game while listening to Ernie and Paul, that would take around 65-75 minutes or 4 innings or so, I'd get to my seat in the 7th or 8th, watch the end of Game 1, get my bearings and a dog during the break between games, then settle in for Game 2. Sometimes I'd leave Game 2 in the 7th inning and listen to the rest of the game in the car on the way home.

I was really looking forward to the team kicking ass tonight.

Now you can look forward to the team kicking ass twice on Saturday!

Game rained out because Mother Nature hates the city connect jerseys.

Maybe they’ll wear the City Connects for the early game?

Maybe not even that many. Maybe barely 100. He is only 21 and still just a few years out of high school. I wonder what his load as an amateur was?

I was trying to find his minor league innings and all I could find was...like 91 innings or something. And it's still April and he's already at 20 ip? It's a long season...

We also don’t know the number of simulated innings and other prep they did after the season.
