he needs to keep confidence that he can reach the seats to right because he is seeing a lot of outside pitching and just going to right gives him better odds than trying to turn around an outside pitch.

So that chopper to Torkelson where he threw the runner out at home rather than take the out at second allowing the runner to score….. that kind of loomed large, eh?

I was thinking the same thing. Their pitching top to bottom is elite, and their offense is decent, even without Meadows and Vierling. Their plate discipline and base running have improved significantly since Harris took over. They are a balanced team now

I noticed the Tigers have a .615 winning PCT. compared to the mighty Red Sox at .500.

Detroit also boasts a run differential of +34 compared to Boston’s -5, and the Tigers are averaging 4.46 runs per game, barely less than the Red Sox 4.57. 

When I think of all the attention in the Red Sox get, the Tigers are doing comparatively pretty good.

Aggressive baseball! It will bite them in the behind at times, but overall a huge plus. I think it fuels the culture, the grit.

I heard Austin Jackson on the Tiger Territory pod (btw, the worst commercials on that pod --blaming the previous president for allowing "tort abuse" to create inflation as if that had any clucking thing to do with inflation as we knew it after COVID)...anyway A-Jax referred to the Tigers as a team that strived to be so tough to play that you were so exhausted when you won that you couldn't celebrate a win.

I am surprised that Greene is starting Game 2.  Ran into the wall a couple of times in Game 1 and now more mileage on those legs in CF.    Man we need Veirling or Meadows to get back.     I worry that as soon as one of them gets back, Riley will end up going on the IL

 

Oh, and why is Kenta still on this team?
