I hope Kahnle is OK. That looked like he was struggling. It's not even a save situation.

On a day where Kahnle and Holton struggle, the Tigers still win two games.  That ain’t bad.

What’s the thing they’re talking about that happened for the first time since 1911?

First time since 1911 the Tigers swept a doubleheader on the same day as a pope’s funeral.

I believe Pope Frank would approve.

I think I mentioned this before, but when I was a kid, I had a button with a picture of Pope John Paul Jr in a Tigers hat and  the inscription of “Bless You Boys”.

Thanks. I think I remember that now. Being 125 years old, my memory does fail me at times…

That's how you knew the pope didn't die in 1911.

I jogged “with” Pope John Paul II for around 7km down University Ave on his visit to Toronto in 1984. As in, I followed alongside his Popemobile on foot. Then attended a big Polish Mass at Exhibition Stadium that evening. Rumor had it he was going to make an impromptu visit by helicopter to my dad’s hometown of Wilno in the Ottawa Valley, Canada’s first Polish settlement, but the locals were left hanging like with the Great Pumpkin so made their way to the Wilno Tavern instead for bigos and Zywiec.

Best overall start since 2015, when they also got to 17-10

I was interested to see how the 2006 Tigers were at this point.  They were 18-9 and then 20-13 and then we really turned it on after that.

As the season progresses and if we can continue to be a playoff contender, I’d like to see us eventually trade for a high leverage reliever.  I really think Vest is the only that we have—would like to see us add.

We’ll have the prospect capital to convert some into players who can help us if we make the postseason.

On the Tigers MLB page reporting on the doubleheader Jason Beck said the 12–3 start was the best home record in the 26 year history of Comerica Park and he said nothing about 1911.

Obviously too distraught on the day of Pope Francis’s funeral to gather his thoughts properly.
