I trust that the Tigers know better than us which level wll benefit his development the most. I think this is the kind of thing fans don't really know a lot about.

They also know what benefits them financially…. Harris is no stranger to holding players down to get extra years of control

There won't be as much of that now.  I could see him holding him back to maintain ROY status, so he can potentially get a draft pick.  However, I think if they really think he's ready to be a contributing major leaguer they will call him up.

Come on Lee you and I both know that Harris Number 1 job is to make Illitch Money and if they just happen to win that’s a bonus…..Harris doesn’t benefit that much if Keith comes up and is a star… he didn’t draft him and his free agency clock starts running….. the same guy who says he isnt ready is also the same guy who wants to keep his value down

Of course, the number one goal is to make money, but they also want to win...which will help them make money.  The Tigers have shown very little evidence over the years that they hold players back even if they are ready.  They didn't hold back any of their top prospects - Greene, Torkelson, Mize, Manning, etc.

Does Keith need to get in touch with Duece?

He'll take care of everything - he'll take the old apartment and set him up in a real nice place up in Toledo for nothing.  All he asks is a couple of small favors.

What I'm saying is; that opinion has no basis.

If you dont think two guys with business degrees (Chris illitch and Scott Harris) would run a billion dollar franchise with a business first approach then i dont know what to tell you

Correlating that to the practice of calling players up is a non sequitur. Gaining an extra year of control and being thorough regarding developing players can have good baseball value not simply a "business approach". Further we have no track record yet on Harris, so there is no reason to assume any predilection.

Just to add on with respect to Harris’ track record, I don’t know if his first offseason in charge is indicative of anything.  It could be, I don’t know.  But is suspect his earlier priorities were really to get the foundation of the organization in order.  That is to say the evaluation and development work streams needed to be put into place first before the actual players were put into place.  Players are going to come and go, there’s always going to be that part of it.  But what good is the farm system if the organization doesn’t know how to select players and/or what to do with them once they’re in place?

If Maton is still up here hitting below the mendoza line in mid July, I will really begin to question Harris.  It's not necessarily about just one bad player, it's about keeping bad players up, while not giving otger guys a cup of coffee in the bigs and leaving them to languish in the minors, whilst watching the Matons poop their pants game in and game out up here.

Brady Allen, who we acquired last month from the Marlins, has been raking at West Michigan.  In only 67 AB’s, he has 6 dingers and 18 RBI’s, to go with a .284/.405/.567 slash. He was a 5th round pick.  I can see him moving up to Erie soon.

Hmm... maybe the young hotshot with the business degree knows what he's doing???

Cody Stavenhagen mentioned on his weekly podcast that he didn't think demoting Maton would really be beneficial to his development.  He didn't really think that there would be anything to gain in Toledo trying to hit offspeed pitches and its simply something he will either pick up (or not) against MLB pitching.

Well, OK.  I can get that BABIP is hurting him and he still does draw a better than average share of walks.  You hope the poor BABIP normalizes at some point, he keeps drawing walks, and he improves his skill against certain pitches.  They're keeping him away from lefties, which at the very least should be happening.  But for crying out loud, can they keep him at 2B and off of 3B when he does play?

I don't know.  With my outsider and unqualified point of view, I think I'd still swap him with Lipcius for the time being.  Its equal parts Maton struggling and Lipcius being 25.  Lipcius started out the season poorly, but he's rebounding in June.  He's had a pretty consistent (level to level) .350 OBP throughout the minors and has an above .750 OPS at AA & AAA.  Its nothing earth shattering.  But again, he's 25.  It might be time to see what he has to offer in MLB, and there's a guy at MLB that plays the some defensive positions that might need to work on some stuff in a lower pressure environment.

I would love to hear some truth serum about the thinking of Malloy and Keith.  What is the current progress at the plate and in the field, and what is the forecast for their futures.  Would love to hear him dedicate some time towards that topic.
