But even if your TV doesn't, all you need is an HDMI cable with something on the other end that will talk to your laptop (HDMI. miniHDMI, DP, USB C) and you just stream to the laptop's browser and run the big screen as a second display. SkyBlue
If you have the mlb tv(or mlb not sure which one at the moment) app you can utilize it on your tv, provided it's a smart tv of some type and watch via the app can do the same on your laptop, phone, tablet etc. Fun part is the MLB.tv subscription gives you access to all the minor league team games as well. Typical night here is Tigers on one monitor and one or two Tiger minor league games on the others. Edited September 14 by SkyBlue

But also not really enough to worry about losing him, especially cause he's have to skip AAA. And it's entirely possible he could completely fall on his face just in jumping from AA to AAA
RandyMarsh
With the extra Wild Card team now which brings so many teams into play it's hard to think of many teams that have no realistic shot at the playoffs when the season begins which is where you would have to be to probably take a guy like Workman knowing he would have to be on your big league roster. Long way of saying that I would feel pretty confident that he wouldnt get drafted if left unprotected. The only way I could see it is if a team like Oakland who is good at finding these flawed players that have upside sees something in his K rate that they feel can fix or atleast drastically improve upon and takes a flyer on him. gehringer_2
Hadn't noticed that Matt Manning made his 2nd start for the Hens since coming back from the IL. Gave up 2R in 3 IP in his 1st start, 1R in 3 IP tonight. But 63 pitchers to get through 3! Been around forever but still only 26. Edman85
Regarding protecting Workman, you can only protect 40 players, and is he one of the 40 best eligible? You have 43 after 60-Day activations, and with the late surge, there aren't that many easy cut candidates. Shelby Miller is the only free agent, and even he has an option. You can probably lop White, Madris, Vilade, and Baddoo and that gets you to 39, 38 if you decline Miller's option. Then you are talking about Kreidler, and are you going to protect Workman over Kreidler? There are guys like Wilmer Flores who could get dropped from the 40 this offseason too, but you don't have that many easy drops, and there are higher priority guys to protect, including several just acquired at the deadline. Edit: I forgot Sammons, who seems to be an obvious drop candidate. McKinstry has probably played his way onto next year's team, much to people's chagrin. Maybe you pull the rip cord on Baez after the season. Edited September 20 by Edman85

RatkoVarda
FWIW, Workman also homered in the playoffs. To me, it is easy to see CWS pick Workman; probably some other teams as well. Good problem to have; teams with deep farms systems often need to make some consolidation trades or risk losing some (admittedly marginal) talent for nothing. I almost think some teams don't mind that and may leave a player exposed they don't want who may get taken just so they can get the free $100,000 drafting fee for a player they didn't want in the first place. Nate7474
I think there’s other opportunities to free up some space on the 40. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few players currently playing for the tigers be shipped out to round out the roster better. I’m looking at players like Carp although I hope not because I like watching him hit. however, he doesn’t add a ton of value in the outfield and has been injured a lot. Jung I could see going in a trade to find a right handed bat or pitching definitely if they went after someone like Bregman to play 3rd and you have right handed Lee coming up thru the minors. Malloy and McKinstry would be 2 others I could see moved and that’s just from the hitting side of the roster.

Say you cut him and no-one picked him up. He's off the 40, you are still paying him. If you still haven't got insurance behind Sweeney, could you turn around and give him an invite to ST? Doesn't seem right but off the top of my head I can't see exactly why. Edited September 20 by gehringer_2

He can just say no. Also, if an MLB player is released (Not outrighted to become a minor league free agent, not non-tendered, released) after August 31, they can't be re-signed and added to the active roster until May 15. So no Spring Invite. Edited September 20 by Edman85
