On Tigers Territory today Cody Stavenhagen talked about Jobe. Cody is in Lakeland and is seeing the workouts up close. He said Jackson's new curve is crazy. He said his stuff is elite and he's above where Skubal was in the same place in his development. I hope his pitching session shows up on youtube. Would love to see that. Cody isn't a homer. He stays objective imho. He believes he is so good, Harris and AJ will have to bring him up with the team out of ST. Imagine the front end of the rotation if guys can stay healthy!

If you have a great FB (and Jobe is supposed to) and you can command a 12-6 curve ( which supposedly is what he is doing now), that's a great base combination because it works against batters of either hand. Whatever you throw beyond those two is gravy.

“It’s almost as if you had designed his stuff in a lab…” — I’m not quoting directly, but this is pretty much what they said.

It was really good. I don’t usually care about the pipeline because in all honesty it hasn’t been that much of a “pipeline“ over the years. I’m pretty much a Blue Plate Special guy, wondering what’s for dinner today exclusively, and I don’t tend to think too much about what’s for dinner in a couple years. But they gave me hope that the diner could be pretty fun in the future.

It's nice that Cooper does the Tigers' list now so that this annual podcast isn't an auto-skip.

5 position players in the top 70, that looks good.  It is very un-Tigers like.  Everybody loves McGonigle don't they?

Elite bat to ball skills. And I hear he is a cribbage savant

Yes that for sure and also being a good-glove shortstop who will make a fine second baseman.

FAngraphs just posted their prospect list.  They list 39 prospects which is among the deepest so far.  (35+ ratings or higher)

Take that back.  Almost all the clubs reviewed so far have more 35+ ratings.

When will Minor leagues rosters be released? I wonder were McGonigle and Clark will land.

Since the two were promoted to WestMI just at the end of the season - that would be the logical place for them to pick it up. McGonigle may be a little ahead of Clark as a hitter - better walk rate, lower K's - I wouldn't be surprised to se him advance a little quicker than Clark.

Agreed, I could see McGonigle in AA by June.

Not to really argue, but they both were promoted July 21.  So they spent 1/3 of the season there (even though McGonigle only played 14 games due to injury while Clark played 34).  Clark did hit much better in his time there than McGonigle.  I could see them both starting there and moving quickly to AA.  I could also see both of them being pushed to Erie to start.  I wouldn't be shocked to see both end up with a cup of coffee at Toledo by the end of the season.  I do trust this staffs development, so wherever they start them, I'm good.

The Tigers seem to like the concept of promoting guys late in the season instead of promoting them in the off-season - so they don't have to start off a season somewhere unfamiliar - helps them hit the ground running I guess? Seems like a reasonable concept.

It does.  I just wouldn’t be totally surprised if they thought 1/3 of the season was enough at WM.  I doubt it, but it wouldn’t shock me.  I think it’s most likely the ideal plan is a month/45 days in WM and the rest of season in Erie with a week or 2 in Toledo (unless Erie is in the playoffs).  With 2026 spent in Toledo with late season call up (to retain rookie status).
