He has to hit better than Kreidler...and I guess his defense would be *good enough*. There isn't any replacing the defense Meadows offers...and Baddoo is another LH bat. Would he offer more offense against a LH pitcher than Kreidler? Would his defense be that much of a drop off? I hope Parker makes it back by the end of May.

Didn't I read something about Baddoo being on a rehab assignment? I bet he gets a chance in Detroit with Meadows out for.....a while?

Expand

He’s not on the 40-man, so I doubt it.  Seems like we are within 10 games of getting Vierling back.

I read he had options left so we could send him back to Toledo without waiving him. As for the 40 man roster, there is Hicklen, who just came up. Baddoo may be better in CF until Meadows gets back. Kreidler is the blackest hole in our lineup. Is his defense worth it?

No.  When the top 4 CFers on your depth chart all get hurt within a month of each other, you resort to desperate measures.

Probably gone when Vierling comes back.

you wrote that a question but I assume it's a statement.

(and this is actually in the form of a statement but it is really a question. ;))

I wrote it as a statement then added a question because I was confused if I was addressing the right thing.

Baddoo is off the 40, so adding him would mean you need to make a 40 man move. That is why Hicklen got the call over Jones or Gamel.

Whatever they have to do to get a player in center who can hit, even a little. Is Kreidlers defense SO good that he can hit like a lttle leaguer? Cut him and that would open a spot on the 40 man roster, right? And then call up somebody who can beat his .120 BA.

Thing is, Baddoo of late hasn't shown he can hit much better, and he has shown he is a much worse fielder.  Kreidler will likely be the one to go down once Vierling is healthy.

I’d rather just call up Clark if we are arguing over Baddoo coming back or not

Expand

When Clark first gets called up, it will almost guaranteed be either in late August/Early September (as to maintain rookie status) or on an opening day.  They have shown they value the opportunity to earn the extra picks, both with Keith last year and Jobe this year.

Putting Vierling in CF? I guess he played there a bit last season. We'll see what Hinch decides...3rd base, RF or CF for Matt. It's good to have options.

Yes putting Vierling in CF. He was the main CF after Meadows was sent down last year. It's the position he's played the most innings at in his career.

I wouldn't have guessed that. I prolly would have said 3rd base and RF. But we need his bat in the lineup.

Yeah, they seem to be more interested in draft picks than service time manipulation.  I like that.

Oh I know.  I don’t actually want Clark up until late 2026 at the earliest.  I just don’t want us to give any more ABs to Baddoo that badly.

Toledo won 1-0 last night a 5.2 inning no-hit, no-walk, 6k outing by Montero. Manning was used in relief - threw a 3 inning save. 3H , 1BB, 3K. Jung scored the game's lone run on a single by Madris after singling and going to 2nd on a WP.

Wonder if he is going to get the Brant Hurter treatment. It was one outing but these numbers are nice.

Owen Hall last year's 2nd round pick, had a first professional game to forget.
0.1IP 3H 3ER 2BB

Melton with a good showing of 4IP 1H 2BB 5K glad to see him showing well in Erie as he had some injury concerns at the end of last year.
