Manning needs to be taken out behind the shed at this point.  No need to continue the suffering.

I had such hi hopes for him. Hope he finds a niche, likely in the bullpen. Had similar hopes for Steve Searcy many moons ago.

I had high hopes for him but ever since he got injured before the pandemic he just hasn't been the same pitcher.

He'd put together an outing here and there where the stuff looked like it was back to pre 2020 but those were few and far between.

Oh well we struck gold with Skubal and may have found something with Mize so all in all that is a pretty damn good outcome from a "big 3" prospect of pitchers.

I think there needs to be a wholesale swap between Erie and Toledo:

Carlos Mendoza, Max Anderson, Trei Cruz, and Justice Bigbie permanently promoted to Toledo. Bigbie might already be there but I don't know if that's permanent or 1 game. Maybe Campos too as, even though he hasn't shown AA power yet, he's hitting .295 in a SSS.

Jaden Hamm, Troy Melton & Jake Miller promoted to Toledo's rotation. Possibly Bergner too. And probably reliever Dylan Smith too. Toledo's starters can be sent to Erie, but NOT Manning or Lockhart... who I think should be pushed into the bullpen asap. Lockhart I would keep stretched out for long outings or spot starts... But Manning needs to be limited to 1-inning outings.

IMO.

Just my 2 cents...

none of those guys are important enough or hot enough to demand a bump. Trei Cruz is on his 4th season at Erie; he has 0 HRs in 56 at ABs; not sure why he must go to Toledo.

this is all driven by the Clark/Briceno/McGonigle timeline. when they go to Erie (June 1? July 1 for McGonigle?), the other dominos will get moved accordingly

I will say there isn't a whole lot to be excited about between Erie and Toledo. In Erie you have Melton, Hamm, Liranzo maybe Anderson. Miller is an interesting pitching prospect and will be interesting to see if he makes it as a RP or SP. I could see him going the Beau Brieske route. Campos is young, but until I see him lift the ball more, I just don't have a ton of confidence in him.

Toledo, you have Hao-Yu Lee, Manning, Montero, and some interesting RPs, but that's about it.

The real fun is WM and Lakeland. I am very interested in some of the high school pitchers they have drafted and how they are going forward. Rucker, Rainer, Franyerber in Lakeland will be reasons to watch for sure.

This is often the case with good franchises that are contending for the postseason every year.  It’s another nice sign the organization is turning the corner.

Agreed! Lower minors being strong while the parent club being strong as well is a good sign. The injuries they have had from an OF perspective has also weakened Toledo. In the near future you will probably see Malloy, Perez and Jung or Sweeney in the Toledo lineup once Meadows, Perez, Vierling are back in the mix.

Actually,

I am looking at it differently.

I am looking at those guys as possible emergency callups. I think everyone named is at least good enough to be tested in AAA. So I am looking for them to "get blooded" so to speak and if they prove not yet ready for AAA then let them sink back to AA. Those that can survive or even thrive at AAA may be useful in Detroit if the need arises. I don't think Cruz is anything special either... a utility guy maybe... but I just want these guys tested as soon as possible at the higher level. I know the Org will make these decisions when they're ready to... Just saying...

And to LLM's point, the pitchers at AA are far more interesting than the hitters...
