microline133 Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 OBP is exceptionally misleading in the complex leagues, particularly the DSL, because the caliber of pitching is so wildly variable. Frankly, stats of any kind at that level of affiliated ball are borderline meaningless. 4 1 Quote

It is not only the pitching variability but fielding as well. Routine grounders can easily become singles if the wrong guy is playing second base. And this is very common. Quote
1984Echoes Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 So we don't get real reads until they hit stateside...? and there's still an acclimation period I would guess? Quote
microline133 Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 If you're just looking at stats, I'd suggest you don't get any type of real read until Double-A. 3 Quote

I have noticed that there is a noticeable difference in fielding between the lower levels, upper levels and the majors. The strong fielders stand out to me as much as the strong hitters and pitchers. 1 Quote
