In fairness, it’s not a full season yet, so the comparisons shouldn’t matter.  That doesn’t take anything away from what he’s doing, though.

It's pretty rare overall, but Kris Bryant and Nelson Cruz both did it. So we got an all star on our hands.

Marcus Thames had a 1.145 OPS over 274 PA in 2004. He basically did it again in 2005.

So there's one, nice! Mike Hessman was another guess of mine but the best he did in a full season for the Tigers was .976 in Toledo in 2008.

Lyle Moulton has a 1.001 OPS across 297 PA at Toledo in 2001. We sent him to the Houston Astros on Aug 31 as part of a conditional deal.

The most recent one I could find before that is Scotti Madison in 1985, who had an OPS of 1.013 split between Nashville (!) and Birmingham (!!) across 522 plate trips as a 25-year-old. He followed that up with a .757 OPS at Nashville in 1986. Scotti slashed .000/.091/.000 for the Big Club in 22 PAs in 1985-86 before we granted him free agency.

I remember seeing Madison's stats in TSN and thinking he was going to be pretty good!

So ---- Moulton was a guy who had already done OK in the majors as a util/platoon righty (a couple of part time seasons >800 OPS) and was trying to hang on at the of a short career. Maybe we should stipulate 'guys on the way up'.?

OTOH - Madison's is a good comp - and not the most optimist projection! He did get into a few MLB games in his career though.

Donde esta Tanner Kohlhepp (‘21 draftee)?

Had Tommy John earlier this year.

Kohlhepp (elbow) is 6-to-8 weeks into his recovery from Tommy John surgery, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
