Smith went 7-10 in all 3 seasons.  First rd picks of Pitts, London and Bijan and an offense that struggled.  If you don’t have a QB you’re not gonna win a lot of games.  Falcons could have signed Flacco or Mayfield this offseason. They stick with Ridder and it burned them.

well deserved firing.  falcons pick 8th for the 3rd year in a row.

not sure why the gm is still there.  that's a mistake.

Smith has made it easy for Fontenot to point the finger at him. “The dude has Kyle Pitts, Drake London, and Bijan Robinson and he won’t use any of them what do you want from me”

I wonder how desirable the Falcons job is? They don't have a QB and they're GM could be on the hot seat. A new coach could take that job and the GM is fired within a year.

It’s one of 32 jobs. I don’t think it’s like Carolina where you avoid if you’re a desired commodity like Harbaugh or Johnson. They’ll probably hire a coordinator from somewhere. Glenn might get an interview, there’s a rivalry connection with the Saints.

The GM Fontenot came from the Saints. Talent wise it's an intriguing team and that division doesn't have any yeah that looks particularly dominating for the next few years.

i'd be surprised if ben johnson doesnt end up in carolina.

I’d be surprised if he did. He’s won the right to be a little bit picky, and if he wanted to go to Carolina I think he could have done so last year.

I suspect he goes to the Chargers or Commanders.

could be.

i think we forget that ben johnson is not the only coaching candidate out there.  also, this is the nfl.  turnarounds happen very very quickly.  the texans were supposed to be the worst team in the league coming into this season.  the panthers could win 6 games next year on luck alone and their coach would be a hero.  he's got connections in carolina and the owner will pay him, that's not nothing.

the commanders want belicheck.  which tells me theyre dumb.

there will probably be another surprise firing out there.  bears?  jets?  titans?

Jamaal scored his only TD of the season tonight on a fake kneel that occurred despite explicit instructions from their coach not to do it. One season after scoring 17 TDs with the Lions.

Tell ya what, this was as classless as it comes.   If Jameis Winston ever gets in that situation again, with a kneel down (if I was Dennis Allen I'd demand his release for ignoring the order), Someone is going to launch into him and he deserves it.   Don't want to hear the crying about how it was a victory formation.    Might be "eating a W", but he'll also be "eating a helmet".      Disappointed in Jamaal.  Thought he was a better man than this.

yeah, it didnt work.

But the guy DC hired is not making "football" decisions.   He's making organizational decisions.   One of the most important issues for that team in the post-scumbag era is getting a new stadium built to replace the worst one in football.   That's probably priority #1 for him.   I think this is where Harbaugh is going.

raiders, washington, carolina, chargers, falcons.

who's next?

pats?  bears?

Bears'll keep their guy.   They showed some fight in the 2nd half, but they have to at least have a winning record next year - and turning things over to a rookie QB might not be the best idea for that.   C.J. Stroud was a unicorn this year.

Have the Raiders let Pearce go?   I think that would be a mistake.  He deserves at least a 2-year deal, he did a pretty good job fixing a mess there.

he's the interim.  they havent made him the head coach so the job is technically open.  i think harbaugh ends up with the raiders.  he has ties to the team and is friends with the owner.

the bears would be stupid to keep eberflus and fields.  so that's probably what they'll do because they are stupid.

Did ASB not get the all-pro nod because he's not flashy?

because he's in a conference with cee dee lamb and justin jefferson.

no shame in not beating those guys out for the pro bowl.

Someone has to answer for this. I’d be surprised if Jameis is back for the Saints next season, and it wouldn’t shock me if Dennis Allen gets fired too.

If you’re Jameis, you’re a backup QB. Do what you’re told. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s out of a job come week one next season. He falls in the line of “guys who aren’t worth bringing in unless they’re going to be your starter, who aren’t good enough to be your starter”. See Cam Newton.

If you’re Dennis Allen, it doesn’t speak highly of your leadership if your team is going behind your back to run fake kneels. It’s terrible for something like this to happen, especially when it plays out publicly. Who will want to go play for that guy this offseason?

I don’t have a problem if they wanted to get Jamaal a TD just like I didn’t have a problem with the Lions getting Reynolds his bonus. Jamaal has had a really tough season. But there’s a way to do it, and it’s by earning a TD. Your team against their team. It’s not by saying you’re taking a knee and then twisting the knife.
