RandyMarsh Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 Sounds like initial results are that its "only" a sprained ankle for Lawrence. Depending on the severity he certainly can miss some time with that but I think that is a better result for the Jags than some of the alternatives. Quote
MichiganCardinal Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 Saleh's seat should be warm. The way that franchise is run right now though, it will probably just depend on what Aaron Rodgers wants to have happen. Quote
1984Echoes Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 Maybe... not disputing the warmth of his seat... But Wilson's a **** QB. Jets fans here HATE Zach Wilson. I think... both the fans AND the team are ready to move on from him as soon as possible... Quote
Motown Bombers Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 The way they handled Zach Wilson is bizarre. Why did they keep after trading for Rodgers? That just seems awkward to have the #2 overall pick as your starter for two years and then decide he isn't the QB and yet you still keep him? They moved Darnold after drafting Wilson. Just poorly handled. Quote

Just poorly handled. He flopped. That's why. If anything, they needed to sign a 1-year stopgap (like a Bridgewater) in case Rodgers went down with an injury (oops!) and moved Wilson to #3. And, either coach him up (just by observing/ learning from Rodgers for instance) or trade him. Their season is screwed because they didn't do that. Quote

He flopped and you replaced him but you still keep him on the roster? It's awkward. They should have moved him and give him a fresh start somewhere else like they did with Darnold and bring in a veteran backup and/or have kept Mike White instead of Wilson. Quote
1984Echoes Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 Well... An Org might still hold onto some hope that he can improve. Keep White as the #2 or sign a better guy and see if they can "salvage" Wilson through coaching. Or at least they may have been hoping... I don't disagree with moving him... probably would have been better. Quote
MichiganCardinal Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 The Jets were too busy signing Rodgers' friends like Allen Lazard for $11MM (20 receptions for 290 yards) and Randall Cobb for $3MM (3 receptions for 20 yards) to think about signing a competent backup like Teddy Bridgewater for $3MM. 1 Quote

Did they really think he was the future QB still? It's not like he was even a cheap backup. His cap hit was $9.5 million. Quote

Wentz was begging the Jets to sign him. Wentz has to be better than Wilson and Boyle? Quote

I think Boyle was Rodgers' doing too. Wanted his own personal clipboard holder from his Packers' days. Didn't consider the possibility of the clipboard holder needing to enter the game. Quote
Jason_R Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 (edited) The Jets have four sparks contributing to their dumpster fire. They drafted Wilson. They didn’t send Wilson packing when they traded for Rodgers. They didn’t seriously have a backup plan for Rodgers. They burned the bridge with Wilson. The first three are on Douglas. The fourth is on Saleh. It would be a raw deal for Saleh if he ends up the fall guy. But at this point I don’t blame Wilson for not going in. His OL is not going to protect him. I think Rodgers will want Saleh (and Hackett), which will lead Saleh (and Hackett) to stay, until next year, when they're not very good even with Rodgers, and the Jets will clear house, yet again. Motown Bombers Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 I can't wait for Rodgers to jerk around the Jets in the offseason. Quote
Motown Bombers Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 I was kind of hoping the Jets would fire Saleh so the Lions could hire him as defensive coordinator. 2 Quote
MichiganCardinal Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 Hadn't seen this discussed yet, but it's pretty egregious. The NFL should revoke the dude's sideline credentials for at least the rest of the season, and probably issue a hefty fine on the Eagles as well. Absolutely no reason for him to be down there, and literally starting stuff with players on the other team? Succeeded too in getting an opposing player ejected. NFL needs to come down extremely hard on this. 1 Quote

buddha Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 the jets are actually doing pretty well considering they lost rogers and had to start zach wilson. that's not a saleh thing, that's a gm thing. Quote

Jason_R Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 (edited) McDermott is melting down. Edited December 8, 2023 by Jason_R Quote
MIguy Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 4th and 2 with two minutes left and only 1 timeout and the Steelers throw it deep and don't come close to a completion. Might be the stupidest decision in the NFL this season. Quote

Everything just keeps falling their way Quote
RandyMarsh Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 The Bears basically sewed up the number 1 pick since I can't see Carolina winning atleast 2 more games. Quote

Everything I had read on it had made it seem like it happened this week. Makes it feel like someone in Buffalo would be pretty okay seeing him get canned. You don't sit on this for four years without some type of ulterior agenda at play. 1 Quote
