Hongbit Posted July 10, 2022 Author Posted July 10, 2022 23 laps in and it sure looks like this will be another race decided by a key Ferrari strategy decision. We’ve seen how that goes. They need split the cars and do it soon. Quote
Deleterious Posted July 10, 2022 Posted July 10, 2022 Bad pit strategy is old and busted. The new hotness is going to be track limits. Quote
Deleterious Posted July 10, 2022 Posted July 10, 2022 Seriously, did Ferrari get some upgrades? Quote
Hongbit Posted July 10, 2022 Author Posted July 10, 2022 (edited) So far so good from Ferrari strategy. Max takes a 2nd pit which is huge for Ferrari as now a late safety car will help them and not mess it up. Edited July 10, 2022 by Hongbit Quote
Hongbit Posted July 10, 2022 Author Posted July 10, 2022 RB throws in the towel and gives Ferrari the 1-2 finish. They can’t possibly fuck this up with 35 laps to go, right? Quote
Hongbit Posted July 10, 2022 Author Posted July 10, 2022 Not sure why the TV guys are ignoring Ferrari purposely conserving tires at the moment and Max is going full out. Quote
Deleterious Posted July 10, 2022 Posted July 10, 2022 Well. I don't know how to feel about that. Quote
Hongbit Posted July 10, 2022 Author Posted July 10, 2022 Great win for Charles but yes it feels like they lost a big opportunity to make up ground in the constructors with Carlos DNF for RB. They had an easy 1-2. Quote

I haven't seen one like that in a while. Quote
Archie Posted July 10, 2022 Posted July 10, 2022 (edited) The FIA needs to take a look at the severity (or lack of) of the penalties. If a driver takes another driver out to the point it ruins their race a 5 second penalty is a slap on the wrist. At the very least it should be a drive through with the penalty stop. No work should be done on the car. The best example of that was the 5 second penalty given to Lewis at Silverstone in 2021. He cause a massive crash and the penalty was basically non existent. Deleterious Posted July 13, 2022 Posted July 13, 2022 Of course he is. Swap those names around and see if that statement is still true. Quote
Deleterious Posted July 14, 2022 Posted July 14, 2022 A couple of projects about Enzo Ferrari. ‘Ferrari’ Series From ‘Peaky Blinders’ Creator Lands at Apple TV+ Quote The streamer has given a straight to series order to Ferrari, from Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight and director Stefano Sollima (Without Remorse, Sicario: Day of the Soldado). The drama also counts Lorenzo Mieli (My Brilliant Friend) and Paolo Sorrentino (The Young Pope) among its executive producers. .... The series will focus on a five-year period in Ferrari’s life. The logline reads: “Five years. Five drivers. Five deaths. One trial. In the name of passion, in the pursuit of pure speed. At the center of it all a titanic man, complex and multifaceted, who dedicated his genius to the mission of building the fastest racing car in history. Enzo Ferrari: his name became a boast, an aspiration, and ultimately legend. But there was a trail of tragedy and torment along the way. Between 1956 and 1961, deeply wounded by the tragic death of his firstborn son Dino and by what he considered a betrayal by his lead driver Juan Manuel Fangio, Enzo Ferrari rebuilds his racing team from scratch, selecting five promising rising stars of motor racing to fight for victory.” Quote The Apple series is one of two big projects about Enzo Ferrari in the works. Michael Mann is directing a feature film (also titled Ferrari) that stars Adam Driver, Penelope Cruz and Shailene Woodley. The film has long been a passion project for Mann. Quote

Danny needs to figure out what he wants to do. He’s a solid driver that at one time was thought of as future star. Those days are over. His F1 future once this McLaren stint is over is to be a middling F1 driver on a low tier team trying to break into the midfield. He’d have better luck moving to Indycar or even getting out entirely and working on TV and messing around with GT racing for fun. Quote
Deleterious Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 Was curious if France was experiencing the same hot weather as the UK. Looks like qualifying and race day will be about 90 degrees, so nothing too extreme. Quote
Deleterious Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 NASCAR just signed a three year deal to run a street circuit in Chicago. They run road courses but those are tracks. I think I read this will be the first time they have run on the streets. Quote

Deleterious Posted July 21, 2022 Posted July 21, 2022 They are hitting the right spots. Quote The course will include Lake Shore Drive, Michigan Avenue and South Columbus Drive, where the start/finish line and pit road will be located directly in front of Buckingham Fountain. It will pass through Grant Park and approach the northern edge of Soldier Field -- site of the only other Cup Series race to take place in downtown Chicago, in 1956. I went to a race at MIS about 20 years ago. The people watching was top notch. Quote

Hongbit Posted July 22, 2022 Author Posted July 22, 2022 It was going to have to happen sometime. Might as well do it at a circuit where you can overtake. Quote
Archie Posted July 22, 2022 Posted July 22, 2022 De Vries had a nice run in the Merc in first practice. He was a little more than a half second off Russell. Not bad for little to no time in the car and about where Lewis is with George in session 1. The Brits will still bang their drum that Lewis is the GOAT though. Quote
