At the elementary down the block the number of kids walking away in the afternoon is literally a few hand fulls, while the lines of cars snake three blocks down the  street in both directions - so the ratio of walkers is pretty low here.

Actually, it seems to be our kids that do that (I'm old). I really can't speak for my generation since I needed to be in the "office" by 5:30 most mornings. We did do a lot of daycare drop offs, however.

Or 4:30, here in the city.

I remember year round DST when I was a kid. It was the middle of the energy crisis. Parents went apeshit because they had to send their kids to school in the dark in January. I was a kid. I didn’t care, I was already up delivering newspapers around the neighborhood in the dark and on foot by 6:00am. Nobody fretted about me doing that.

4:30?  Where are you?   Is that TRAVERSE city?

In this survey that I just made up, 1/3 of people are for ending DST, 1/3 of people want to keep it, 1/3 of people don’t really care one way or the other, and the final 1/3 don’t have the math skills to understand it.
