I hope Gose gets a chance to pitch and has another opportunity at an MLB career.  He seemed like a decent guy when he was with the Tigers, just didn't have the bat to stick.  Saw him pitch a bit in the Olympics and he didn't look too bad.  With all the pitchers teams role out to the mound these days, it's nice to see him get a chance.

cool! I wish him well, even though he's with Cleveland. it's too bad someone talked him into converting to OF, since I seem to recall that pitching was his first love.

I always thought Gose was a victim of Ausmus inability to manage.  Hope he does well.

He seems to walk about one per inning but strike out 1.5 per frame. I wish him well.

Wow, Gose hitting 100MPH in the game last night.  As a lefty, he has some potential to stick around a bit if he can keep the control in check.  Good job young man!

I wasn't expecting to see triple digits. A creative manager could also use him as a pinch runner and defensive replacement provided his defense and baserunning hasn't declined significantly since he was in Detroit.

He was hitting 100 on the gun a few years ago.  All the GMs loved him as a CF because of the wheels and the arm, but he just couldn't hit enough.

Good for him.   I don't recall him complaining when they made the switch to pitcher.  A lot of guys would have walked, since they were already in the majors and the switch would set them back to A ball.    Only time I hope he fails is when the Guardians play the Tigers next year.

And funny, if you look around the majors now, there are a lot of guys in starting lineups that don't hit as well as he did.

He played a few innings in the outfield last season I think.

How come he didn't stick in the Tigers system after he switched to pitching?

Was it a FA thing...? Or did we let him go?

He pitched I thought 2 years or so for us while trying to make the conversion...

And he was hitting triple digits from the get-go IIRC...

I think he was pitching in our system until he had Tommy John surgery.

I think he might of been taken in a Rule 5 draft. He's been with other teams besides Cleveland after leaving Detroit.

Baseball Reference says he was granted free agency in 2019. Signed with the Rangers who lost him to Houston in the Rule 5 draft a week or so later. He was returned to Texas. 
 

Sounds like his contract was up on Detroit and it was a mutual decision

yeah - he'd had at least 5 yrs in the minors and not on a 40 so I think that made him eligible as a minor league free agent to go where he wanted or could get a deal.
