While Carter was far from perfect, I learned while researching my master's thesis that a lot of great research in agriculture and pest control was done during his presidency.

I’ve spent a lot of time watching coverage and have to give credit to Fox for playing it straight.  It’s been solid coverage and no bull**** or caveats.

Carter's activism and community work post presidency cemented his legacy. I fear we will not see anyone in public office again who exemplifies what it truly means to have Christian values.

The fact there was no report of arrest or even mention in the media of this "discovery" is disheartening. Given the group name and location, it's definately a far right terrorist group.

But the value in his service to Habitat was never in his individual labor, it was that he was great recruiter and ambassador for the org, and that's fine - I don't knock the value in that at all. For most Americans the time they can donate to community service is more valuable than the amount of money they have available to donate so that recruitment matters. But as a general rule I wouldn't consider it all that redeeming for a rich person to donate some of his time if he isn't also donating some of his money!

Carter was trying to set an example of hands-on service, and I think he was awesome at it.

My daughter and her fiancé live in West Hollywood and they have just left for San Diego. Not because West Hollywood is in danger but because the air quality is so bad and the fiancé‘s family are pretty well off and they have a place to stay at in San Diego but all the ordinary people are screwed. And I suppose that when Trump becomes president he will not allow federal aid to go to Los Angeles just out of spite.

I just discovered that my daughter and her fiancé who had to flee their apartment because of the smoke in West Hollywood discovered one hour after they left that evacuation orders had been given because the hills 1 mile away are a blaze and it’s headed their direction. These dwellings were built in the 1920s and Charlie Chaplin‘s place is right next-door.

They are devastated that they might lose everything although my daughter and her fiancé made sure that the wedding dress and the fiancé’s suit were already in San Diego where the wedding will take place in October. My daughter left her car behind because they thought there was no chance of the fire reaching them. Now she’s really worried about it.

Ford and Carter agreed to do each other's eulogies.  Ford died first.  So now Ford's son Stephen is reading what Jerry would have said had Jimmy died first.  Good stuff.
