Drew Rasmussen of the Rays lost his perfect game in the 9th last night. Just bringing this up cause after seeing that I checked his stats and he has a 2.80 ERA with a sub 1 WHIP in 21 starts while posting similar numbers in the 2nd half last season in a dozen or so starts.

This was one of the "no name bullpen arms" that the Rays got in the Adames trade and now in the past calendar year he's been one of the best starters in the AL.

Yes Adames has been great for Milwaukee and I'm sure they are more than happy with the trade but it continues to baffle me how they can acquire and turn trash into treasure.

Nurture or Nature? Would he be anything special if he was a Tiger?

Surprising.

Just my two cents but, while Jon Daniels has achieved some highs that Al Avila never did, it's been six losing years in a row for the Rangers. The farm is in better shape than the Tigers, but ultimately I doubt Chris Woodward is the problem.

Does it baffle you how the Tigers can trade All-Stars and Future HOFers for a dumpster of trash?

The Rays do pretty well but they aren't perfect.  Paredes is a good example, they have him so screwed up that for the past 6 weeks he has been playing the worst ball of his career.  Barnhart-level bad.

You're always told not to invest in pitchers well into their 30s and it just so happens the two that the Tigers decided to take that advice on not only turned out to be extreme exceptions to the rule but also ended up being 2 of the best to ever do it at their age. Go figure.

This is true but who better to be wrong about if they had signed them ? It was a no lose proposition.

Having Verlander and Scherzer together all these years would have been so much fun.  It's hard to be be a bad team with two aces, but even if they were bad some years, it still would have been fun.
