gehringer_2
12 up, 12 down. So far this one is shaping up as a real barn-burner.
lordstanley
Fwiw, when Spencer Turnbull went on 10-day DL last year it was for “forearm strain” https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseball/news/tigers-spencer-turnbull-likely-out-until-after-break/

This is common. Elbow sprain is straight up ligament damage. It may not be bad enough to need TJ. But it is, by definition, elbow ligament damage. gehringer_2
Skubal throwing off-speed for strikes in some FB counts. Nice to see the Tiger pitcher doing that to the opposition instead of vice versa!
Dtrain72
My way too early in the season hot take is that Skuval and Manning both look better than Mize just by watching them in comparison.

When you sprain something, you usually know it right away and I don't think he could continue pitching. Crazy Cat Gentleman
so Báez hurt his thumb on opening day when he was trying to keep Gatorade from getting dumped on him? yeesh. I guess it's better than octopus-throwing, Guitar Hero, or moving, but still. Edited April 16, 2022 by Crazy Cat Gentleman
lordstanley
Dan on the radio broadcast just said that Baez’ thumb injury dates back to the Opening Day celebration. He was trying to get out of the way of getting Gatorade dumped on him. Maybe that’s been reported elsewhere but first I heard that.
lordstanley
It’s going to be a great debate when Keller gets pulled after 7 innings with a no-hitter going and Skubal gets pulled after 7 innings with a perfect game going.

Especially a pitcher's elbow, which is sore every 5 or 6 days.
Hart
If Skubal ends up looking like an ace this year and Mize ends up disappointing (either thru injury, performance, or both), is that a win for the Tigers? What is the expected hit rate on top pitching prospects? If we get 1 front end guy, 1 average starter, and 1 fringe starter/long reliever out of the trio of Mize, Skubal, and Manning, is that okay? Imo, getting one ace out and a solid starter out of the three would be good. Of course if all three turned out great, well, that'd be great. But, historically, that's not how it usually goes. Kind of reminds me of the early Verlander, Bonderman, and Robertson years...alll three came on strong and were pretty hyped intially, but ultimately, Justin was really the only one that panned out.
