I decided to spread mine out, getting them 3 weeks apart. Oh, right! I remember that response. I think since I won’t actually have an opportunity to get any shot til after Thanksgiving, I’m leaning more towards one at a time. Quote
oblong Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 I had them both at the same time. Not one **** but two. No issues other than being tired for about 12 hours. Not sure if that’s what you mean. Quote

I guess in my mind somehow I thought that it was the two vaccines combined in one shot, but I think I’m mistaken. At any rate, I don’t know when the hell I’m doing this anyway …. probably not till the first week of December or the second week. I just don’t know why I’ve been this busy. I don’t like it. Lol. 1 Quote

Has anyone gotten the combined flu/Covid vaccine as opposed to getting them separately? And do you think that was better worse or indifferent? I’ve just been very busy with other things so I haven’t gotten either shot yet and usually by now I have at least one of them done. I’m just wondering whether I should just say screw it and get the combined shot. I’d appreciate any feedback thank you I got 'em both in September. Felt about the same. Quote

I got the two back to back in a single visit. Quote

One of the arms was a bit more sore than the other (can't remember which was which). Neither one of us suffered any ill effects. Quote

Yea I was sore there too. I wasn’t that tired…. But did go to bed earlier than normal. Could have been placebo as I do get up at 5 am and that was the week of Tiger playoff baseball and all the other games so…. Quote
LaceyLou Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 The latest COVID shot I got definitely made my arm sore for the next couple of days. That was back in July so maybe it's not the same one? A lot of times, I have a sore arm from the flu vaccine but this year I didn't, just the tired feeling others are having. I'd say get them both on the same day, but make sure you don't have to be anywhere for a day or tow-just in case. I once made the mistake of getting a tetanus shot and a shingles shot on the same day, though, so just about anything else seems mild to me. Quote
Edman85 Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Enjoy these shots if you think the CDC and FDA will keep rolling out updated vaccines in the foreseeable future. Quote
LaceyLou Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 I can't wait to see my first case of lockjaw in person. I've only seen it on television. 🤨 Quote

I had both shots on Friday. Covid in right arm and flu shot in left. Felt like I was hit by a semi yesterday when I woke up and then I was tired the rest of the day. I feel that way any time I get the Covid vax though. Quote

I made the mistake of getting my second shingles shot and then going on a long bike ride, halfway through which I thought I might collapse. Or maybe it wasn't exactly a mistake, since I wasn't warned by the physician about this or anything else related to the shot. 1 Quote
Tiger337 Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 I used to get a lot of soreness with all vaccines, but now I do focused breathing to relax me as I am vaxed and I get very little soreness. I know it might not work for everybody. Quote

So, I didn't do anything that day. Quote

That 2nd shingles vaccine kicked my butt. I was sick for a week. But that was several years ago. In 2023, I got my covid and flu shot at the same time. Again, problems for several days. High fevers and horrible dizziness. So this year, I seperated them. I got the flu shot first, with no problems. Then the covid booster. And a fever and feeling horrible for a few days. But at least I know which vaccine was the problem. Yes, having this reaction is better than getting a severe covid or shingles case but it was still very unpleasant. 1 Quote

LaceyLou Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 Interestingly, when I got the Pfizer version of the COVID shot, I didn't get a reaction aside from a very mild pain at the injection site. The last one I got was Novartis-and I had tiredness, dizziness, and felt like my arm had been punched. Quote

Yeah my wife is a year older and went thru it. The 2nd made her tired. I planned it around my half marathon this fall and will wait until after the holidays. I got a bunch of time off so I don’t want to waste it on that. 1 Quote
Edman85 Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 As for arm pain, I have noticed if I did deltoid exercising the day before, it helps with the pain because the muscles are recovering anyways. Quote
