Romad, your neck of the woods?

Yeah, they used to send me all sorts of requests to participate in the GOP here.  I haven't seen one in a while.  Loudon County is the gold plated county next door to Fairfax county and happens to have several large Asian immigrant diasporas. They call Ashburn, Ashburndesh to kid them about all the South Asians.

Fairfax wishes we had their very nice sports facilities.

Honestly, I had to check a few times to see if this was a parody account.

This is what he calls an UNPRECEDENTED SCANDAL?  This is absolutely nothing.   It’s not even the lowest level of wrong doing.  It’s editing a TV show.  If that isn’t whack job enough, he goes on to say the Democrats should concede the election to him because of this incredible wrong doing.    This is completely asinine even for Trump.

We just watched War Game. This was a simulation of what could happen if the 2024 is contested like the last one on Jan 6. Only this time the opposition is much more prepared, both the National Guard and the military are compromised (it's estimated that about 7% of National Guard members and a similar percentage of regular military would side with those opposed to the  peaceful certification of the election and would resort to provoking violence by the police, Guard and acitve military.

Basically they game it out in real time (given a 6 hour time limit) with Fmr Gov Steve Bullock as President, Fmr Gen Wesley Clark as Chairman of the Joint Chief's of Staff, Heidi Heitkamp, Alexander Vidman, Doug Jones and several others who have had governmental experience.

Bottom line, next January could be very scary

Yes, it’s stupid, but there’s an actual reason Trump is doing this: he is resetting his supporters’ expectations of what should be considered election interference or fraud. Ten years ago no one would have thought an edited interview could ever be considered so. Now tens of millions of people will think so. Trump is rewiring America’s brain, and he’s getting help from experts who’ve done it to entire nations before us. We are becoming Eastern Europe.

I was unaware of Russell Brand finding Jesus and jumping on the right wing conspiracy train.

Funny how it seemed to happen after he got nailed for grooming teenage girls too

He's selling $240 amulets now -  to protect you from 5G cancer or some such thing.

At least he knows the right crowd to grift.

The magical amulet will block 5G signals that carry texts to underage girls that suggest ways to fool their parents into believing they aren't going to see him.

Is this amulet so magical that it will give you a force fields protecting you from the police that are coming to arrest you, Russ?

He's doing the whole down on his knees praying bit.

Dumb people can't see it.

It's amazing.

I saw a bumper sticker on a gorgeous 2024 Tahoe yesterday (never understand why you'd put bumper stickers on your car, guess that's my conservative background showing through) that said "I don't co-parent with schools (or maybe school board), I co-parent with Jesus".  I actually agree and support that idea, but I suspect we look at the meaning of it differently.  Not co-parenting with the schools, to me, means letting them do their thing while I do my own.  I suspect this is one of the people that goes to the monthly board meetings, not to listen and learn, but to tell them they need to change stuff to have more 'God' in it.

My god these are some weird and ****ed up people

I cannot express enough how really bone-chilling it is for a woman to hear this very obviously misogynistic rants from these men .
It, no lie, gets me extremely anxious, and even more so when I hear the audience laughing and applauding it.

I find myself feeling like I want to scream.

I've been watching a lot of old television shows and movies while on medical leave. I'm struck by how women were often portrayed as being adult children needing the guidance and calming presence of a man. It's very subtle, but I'm sure girls were influenced by them.

I also shudder to think that I used to sing along to a song that began "I'd rather see you dead little girl than to be with another man."

There are so many of them. Hopefully, not TOO many.

I think about this and I remember that when abortion was put up for a referendum in Ireland all sorts of women flew back into Ireland from around the Globe (even though they could vote absentee) just to cast their votes in person to strike down the antiquated system which had governed their bodies and their mothers' and grandmothers' bodies.

EDIT: I was wrong that absentee voting was allowed.
