Yep I agree.  What channels a company airs is all about how much it costs them and how many viewers they get in return.  I can see where you are coming from but I wasn't referring to a business decision with my comment.  I was referring to the "one down two to go" comment.   If someone doesn't like something then don't watch.  The idea of wanting to shut down one side of the political media because you don't like their message is wrong in my opinion.

How are they worse than CNN, MSNBC or all of the msm?  These outlets like to campaign openly for the democrats, ignore things that make the dems look bad and report half truths to lead their minions around by the nose to make them think the democrats are actually for the US and the American citizens.  Have you ever asked yourself why Fox News is the highest rated cable news network by a long way.

work of fiction

They are far worse because they advocated, and still advocate, the overthrow of American democracy in order to keep the guy who legitimately lost the 2020 election as president, against the will of the people.

OAN is bad for America. Good for Russia.

The same could be said for the liberal media.  They support ending the filibuster and the dem's voting fraud bill that will allow them to rule the country forever which would end the democracy.  The dems loved the filibuster when they were the minority but hate it now because they can't push through their power hungry attack on the American people.

Also it's quite obvious the democrats DON'T support ending the fillibuster.   They clearly and obviously don't have the votes to do it, which obviously means they don't support ending it.  So not only are you a troll hack, you're a straight up liar too.

That's not even addressing your implicit notion that a legislative device that allows a minority to stop anything is "democracy" which is obviously false on its face.   Furthermore, ending it via the legislature voting on it would actually be democracy hoss.

It would be democracy you don't like which you like to cancel.   Because you're a hypocrite and like to cancel things you don't like, and cry about things getting cancelled you do like.

lol equivocating the violent storming of the capitol to prevent Congress from doing its constitutionally-mandated duty, versus supporting a legislative change that would restore the balance of one person-one vote in the Senate, as equally threatening to American democracy.

If OAN was making a ton of money for AT&T they'd still be on the bird. it's that simple.

If it makes you happy I'll send you a gift card for Penzys

My understanding from a few months back was the exact opposite:  AT&T basically birthed and raised OAN:

I miss conservatives here that weren't complete hacks.   It's been a long time since we had even one.

Oblong can you go back to being conservative?  paging shabba

like if we had at least one that thought "wow my argument is really bad" before hitting send that would be super awesome.

From my CNN Reliable Sources newsletter

Quote

You might recall that last year, Reuters, citing sworn testimony that an OAN accountant gave in 2020, reported that 90% of the channel's revenue came from subscriber fees paid by AT&T-owned platforms, mainly DirecTV. Reuters' report indicated that AT&T wanted to beef up a conservative network when it played a key role in the founding of the channel.

AT&T is now in the process of spinning off CNN and the rest of WarnerMedia. It already spun off DirecTV. It is unknown what proportion of the channel's $$$ currently comes from DirecTV. But the network's website only lists a few other national carriers, Verizon FiOS chief among them, so OAN will be losing substantial audience and revenue due to this decision.

I'm betting one or more top investors in AT&T have threatened to pull back some of their money of they didn't drop OANN, since T has been the target of protests from major rights organizations, some of which have ties to top corporations.

Yep.

And to the extent that people are complaining about DirectTV and their decision here, it's yet another case of how the new conservative ethos is to have the unequivocal right to say incendiary and false stuff while being shielded from any consequences for those choices.

It's a wild position for self-described capitalists to take. What a time to be alive.

Video of Lauren Boebert attempting to get gas?

That's funny but its far from being Lauren Boebert.  Just a young kid that hasn't been taught much about her parents car.  Since she's a young person chances are she's a democrat supporter since most are.  See why I don't have much hope for the younger generation and the future of our country.

I'm not complaining about DirectTV dropping OAN.  I could really care less since I've actually never watched it.  I'll say it for the third or fourth time I was commenting on the post made about wanting to get rid of all right wing media. Liberals love to silence the opposition!

This link shows the rating of ALL cable networks.  Fox News viewership is down in 2021 because it wasn't an elections year but is still number one, even ahead of ESPN.  Fox News viewership is a little less than CNN and MSNBC combined.

Networks that talk honestly about conservative issues are good.  I wish there were more (any?) of them.  We like to see dangerous extremist media based mostly on conspiracy theories get banned.  When networks like that can't get a large enough audience to stay afloat, that says something good about America.

Since you ignored it earlier:

But let's be honest here.... conservatives are all about shutting down speech they don't like.

That's really what this comes down to, and a big reason why the cancel culture debate is mostly just a bunch of bollocks in my view : the same people who complain about OANN today had no problem canceling Natalie Maines for her comments back in the day about the Iraq War. Or calling for Colin Kaepernick's head.

It all comes down to whose ox is being gored.... if one wants to be really principled and say you are all about free speech, you need to do it in all instances. And one needs to be able to recognize that businesses making a business decisions or trusts making decisions in their private interests (ie. the dumb Dr. Seuss controversy) is not cancel culture, but simply business.

Lol at the idea that chasfh is effectively restricting free speech in America.

I can’t even get a bunch of Internet forum randos to care about what I have to say. Like I’m going to get DirecTV to pay attention to what I would like them to do?

Come on.
